My house is 100 years old. There was an old 2-prong floor outlet in the middle of the dining room, presumably for seances. I like to plug in my laptop there and sit at the table for calls, so I decided to have an electrician replace the old box with this one. It looks much nicer, is grounded, and is very solid. Hopefully I can get 100 years out of this one.

To be fair, I bought this because I couldn't find "just" the top plate for a floor box to replace the cheap plastic covers the previous owner had used.But the brass screws are pretty weak and didn't even stand up to being screwed into the box, no way they would have stood up to foot traffic walking on the thing.Ended up buying some #6x32 stainless steel trumpet head screws from Home Depot. Of course, stainless steel doesn't match the brass, so we're going to have to probably pick up something from hobby lobby to get it closer. But at least I know the stainless steel ones won't just snap.Otherwise... I found the price to be pretty high. I know it's solid brass but I'd say it's still about half again what it should cost.In the end though my floor outlets are no longer fire or shock hazards so it was worth it.

I am very impressed with the heft/weight/solidness of this floor receptacle . Its top notch and a complete kit for a good price. Works as intended and I had no issue installing it. If you aren't a handy DIYer and are not comfortable cutting a hole in your floor or doing electrical work SAFELY...then play it safe and hire a contractor.

Metal floor outlet with rubber seal. Easy to install with a relatively low profile.

I would like to return the product but Enervates only offers a 30 day window and it took longer than 30 days for my electrician to arrive. Now when the product won't lay flat I can't return it for a better fitting alternative.
