Necromunda Rulebook (Hardback)

This is more than I could have ever dreamed of. I loved this game when it originally came out and was disappointed to find it cancelled. I'm super glad it's back and the materials are way better than what was originally available. This is a fun read as well as contains all the rules. I love it

Longtime 40k player here. New to Necromunda. Glad I could find a copy of the rulebook online.

I had copies of the original version of Necromunda. It was a great game that required solid tactical planning. The different gangs each had a unique quirk that allowed for quite a bit of individuality in play and planning.This is a nice upgrade, adding more streamlined rules and simplifying the character stats.If you are intrigued by the Warhammer 40K universe this is a way to get introduced, but understand that this is not the same rule set. Its similar but this game uses an individual movement system rather than the squad based movement and fighting of the larger game.I really enjoy this game, it allows a lot of individuality. It does have some issues with balance in long campaigns as luck with gang members surviving fights can contribute into some gangs being far more powerful than others, but its always a challenging puzzle.

You'll need it to play, but you'll buy it for the extra content. And I promise you, you will not be disappointed.

You can NOT actually play Necromunda with these rules. You cannot even fully understand the rules with only this book. You need one or more supplements to build gangs with. There is nothing in this book that explains the difference between different types of gang members, so the few references included have no meaning.For example, the campaign section explaining how to play a long term game, the book includes a rule about Juves being promoted to Champions. However, The difference between Juves and champions are not explained to begin with. You have to either buy a faction supplement and study the different gang member profiles or have played the original (now free) Necromunda to know what such a rule actually means.Referencing something not previously nor immediately afterword explained is widely considered to be a basic error in writing structure. A little bit of extra explanation about the roles of the different types of gang members would have sufficed without undermining the requirement to buy additional supplements to play. Instead, it appears that the writers or editors of the Necromunda rulebook cut out sections (to emphasis supplements) referenced later in the book without adding any material in place of the cut sections.I can abide supplemental material and expansion content; an expanded Necromunda was what drew me to buy these new rules to begin with. I cannot abide poorly written, poorly edited rules that reveal a complete disregard for the quality of products released for sale at premium prices.
