Amazing at restoring old shotgun.
I'm restoring a 1920's single shot 12 gauge that had years of rust. After trying numerous ways to clean the chamber and bore, I was almost to the point of giving up. After reading many reviews on the Flex-hone, I decided to spend a little extra and give it a try. In addition to the Chamber Hone, I also purchased the 180 grit and 800 grit bore hones. I cannot stress enough to follow the directions that come with the product, and to also purchase the hone oil from Flex-Hone. It took a moment to get the process down, and the shaft on the Flex-Hone will want to go into a wild wiggle especially as you pull back the hone away from the chamber. But the end result is a chamber and hone that looks almost new. I could not believe the difference. One tip: do not wear rubber or nitrile gloves when using this product. At full RPM, the material of my glove caught itself, then wrapped around the shaft and ripped the glove off my hand, stopping the hone midway in the barrel. I highly recommend this product, even for routine maintenance of guns that weren't a basket case like my restoration project. Thanks.

Did a great job on my chamber!
I purchased this to (hopefully) cure a Failure to Eject problem with my Mossy 930SPX. Prior to the chamber showed rough manufacturing marks and shells were occasionally so tight that the extractor would rip right through the rim. Purchased this AND the 800 grit flex-hone.Very easy to use, the job was complete in maybe 20 minutes including cleanup, but the actual "honing" was 1 minute with each brush. Now the chamber shines like a mirror. I recommend saving your money on the hone oil, the instructions state 10-30 motor oil can be used also. This is a DIRTY job with oil flying everywhere, so do it outside and wear an apron or clothes you don't care about, have some paper towels or throw-away rags ready for cleanup.Others have stated in some online reviews that the brushes were worn after a single use. I can state that mine are not. I have a new barrel coming for mine and I see no reason I cant get at least 1 more go, if not more.

Pump shotgun won't eject?
If your 12 ga. pump shotgun won't eject and its been used a lot, its likely the chamber has layers of melted plastic crud in it that even regular cleaning (bore brush) can't remove. I fought this problem for too long and almost junked my shotgun. I was listening to the 'experts' who claimed cheap 'low brass' or aluminum shot shells were the culprit (some truth to that). I even replaced a few parts put never solved the problem. The cheap 'low brass' theory is that there is more plastic on the shells than on 'high brass 'or 'high dollar' shots hells and the extra plastic eventually melts and builds up as the shotgun chamber heats up. This does make sense but only if (and who does) you don't really clean the chamber once in a while. I've never owned a shotgun 'chamber brush' but they do make them. Finally discovered this chamber brush and read a few reviews about it. As I became a believer that extensive chamber crud was indeed the culprit - I bit the hook. I did a little research though and decided the diameter of this brush wasn't large enough for a thorough cleaning. I ended up buying this brush for regular cleaning but also purchased several of the same brand of brushes but in a 7/8" size. I was right! Initially I tried this chamber brush and it did clean off the surface layer of crud but I could feel the chamber needed more. The 7/8" brush worked like magic! I only ran it slow/medium drill speed for about 15 seconds - the crud really came out! Remember this is a HONING BRUSH and it WILL remove metal if you run it too long and hard. Don't go deeper than you need into the barrel. Follow the instructions on brush package and you'll be fine. Prepare for a mess though! My shotgun now ejects EVERY shell, EVERY time. I bought the old Winchester used and it always had the ejection problem - slide wouldn't open after a few rounds through it. Felt like it had a mechanical stop or something was blocking it from opening and that was the parts chasing I did. Anyway - try these brushes, at least your shotgun chamber will be clean!

Not as described.
I only gave this a two star because the item did not come as described. It was supposed to have a protective coating on the shaft to prevent damage to the bore. I had to wrap with electrical tape then buy shrink wrap to put over tape to prevent scarring of the bore.

and they performed as advertised so I am a happy customer.
Hone and oil work together to polish rough chambers to a smoooth finish that facilitates proper gun function. Both products perform just as I wanted and expected. Price was reasonable, delivery was as promised, and they performed as advertised so I am a happy customer.
