Psychic Warfare was produced by longtime producer Machine (Lamb Of God, Every Time I Die) and consists of 12 new tracks. "The title 'Psychic Warfare' is taken from the track, 'X-Ray Visions," states singer Neil Fallon. "It's a tale about an unnamed protagonist who is forced to seek refuge in a flop house motel. He is hiding from several nefarious psychic forces, the worst of which is his own sleep deprived paranoia." The album cover was designed by renowned photographer Dan Winters. Clutch have been pushing the boundaries that define heavy rock music since the four original members got together in high school. Clutch is an unmatched musical force that has been best described as "the quintessential American Rock Band."

Some love for Dan Maines and JP Gaster !!
It's silly to critique Clutch. They are awesome and have never put out a bad album. I would however like to point out some amazing performances by the rhythm section, JP and Dan. Usually people focus on Neil Fallon's great vocals or Tim Sult's catchy riffs- no argument there- these guys are the best. But on Psychic Warfare the bass and drums really stand out. Just listen to "Sucker for the Witch"- killer bass line and just amazing drum work. Listen with head phones to the hi-hat of JP Gaster - very nuanced and fluid. Totally enhances the song, which is pretty good regardless. Can a groove be loose and tight at the same time? Dan Maines thinks so. He is so unassuming and at times overshadowed by the other members, but I will go out on a limb and say that Dan Maines is as important to Clutch as John Paul Jones was to Zeppelin. Go ahead and tell me I'm crazy. Don't care. Clutch keeps evolving. The songs have always been great, but the focus on the recording has gotten better with each album. They know what they are doing in the studio, and while their live performances are not to be missed, the albums are special in their own right. Don't skip "Psychic Warfare". Get it now.

You betta believe it brotha !
Ok - so you're looking into Clutch. All I can say regarding this album is WOW ! This album smokes ! Now I have to say that I discovered Clutch late. I recently heard The Mob Goes Wild (from Blast Tyrant) and I was like - Who's THAT ?? So, naturally - well, naturally for me I went to their latest effort and boy was I NOT sorry ! This is so easily a 5 star album. This band is something else ! From start to finish - I am impressed ! Needless to say I proceeded to investigate many of their other albums and hence I say to you reading this review and you like me perhaps are new to this band - start here. (Now veteran Clutch fans may differ and I think I understand you - but I will say these guys can be a heavy dose to ingest at first - maybe maybe not) Anyway, on that note - I say again, start here, and after this I highly recommend Robot Hive / Exodus and Blast Tyrant. expand out from there. And it's true - there really are no bad Clutch albums and I do think they get better by the album. But start here and enjoy the brilliance of Clutch. Cheers !

A Clutch fan in Texas
Clutch is at it again! Picking up right where Earth Rocker left off, another high octane effort from the best Rock band going. Been listening since '95 and they just get better: which is not to say every album is better than the last, more to say they making music in 2015 that is every bit as good as in 1995.For a while they were doing more bluesy, less driving hard rock, and they did that great, too. But Earth Rocker and Psychic Warfare are a return to the more hard & fast earlier efforts, but they've impressively incorporated the bluesy years into this new hardness. Early ears sounds like a fusion of Pure Rock Fury and Strange Cousins From the West, harder than Strange Cousins but less metal than Pure Rock Fury.Clutch and Mastodon are touring together this year, and I saw them in San Antonio in May and have tickets for the Austin show around Halloween, and the new songs sound really excellent live. In fact of the dozen+ Clutch shows I've been to, it was right near the top. So buy the record and go check 'em out tearing it up live, because there is no drop off from recorded to live with the DC Sound Attack!!

I Love this Album!!!
I usually go around saying Blast Tyrant is the best Clutch album, but this may be my favorite Clutch album to date. I've listened all the way through maybe 20 or 30 times now and it just keeps getting better! I saw them live recently and every song they played from this album was amazing. I can remember "X-Ray Visions", "Sucker for the Witch" and "Noble Savage" really got the crowd hyped up. If you enjoyed Blast Tyrant, Robot Hive/Exodus and Earth Rocker - you cannot go wrong. This album is wall to wall awesomeness!Individual ratings (5 is best)Variety of songs - 5 (every song is a winner - you've got some high-energy rock stuff and some really great grooves along the way)Packaging - 4 (I love the cover - album comes in a folding paper sleeve which is more cost-effective and better for the environment)Overall value - 5 (the album is only $10 and comes with AutoRip for Amazon music - BUY IT NOW)

Clutch are still making great albums, with no sign of slowing down.
You'd be really hard pressed to find a "bad" album from Clutch. They're just a great band. Their songs are catchy, have great lyrics and just a great overall sound. As many have said, this band has evolved, but still have that Clutch sound. A lot of bands now days try to distance themselves from what they started as; not Clutch. They never have reinvented themselves, but have been able to make themselves sound different and the same at the same time -- if that makes any sense. From the second track, the first is skit, the album begins to gain momentum and keeps going until the last song. There is not one song on this album that I dislike. I love this album so much that I have actually had it on repeat for the past two days, and I probably will not get tired of listening to it... it's that good.If you're thinking of buying this album, then do it, well worth it. Can't go with Clutch.
