Professional Looking Protection For Your Traveling Knives
The media could not be loaded. I’ve spent a small fortune over the years putting together a collection of high quality knives that will hopefully be lovingly used long after I am no longer here to do so myself. Because friends and family know how much I love to cook, I am often asked to help others prepare meals in their space for their gatherings. I’m always happy to do so, but I have to admit, that there are just certain things from my own kitchen that I prefer to use rather than borrow from others - the most important being my knives. Knives for a cook are a very personal choice. Comfort in one’s grip, heft, sharpness and style are all directly related to individual cooking style. When I have my own set of knives with me, I am at home in just about any indoor or outdoor kitchen.I needed something that would make transportation of my cherished knives safe and easy, but I also wanted to make sure that they would be well protected. In addition, I wanted whatever I used to look professional, stylish and be made of high quality materials. When I found this knife roll, I knew that I had found exactly what I had been searching for.The fit and finish of this hard waxed canvas roll is beautifully thought out and well constructed. It has heavy duty sewing throughout that is exceptionally tight with no loose threads or uneven seems. There is a generous amount of high quality leather adorning this bag including the easy to carry handle, the strapping, the pen holder, an inside leather zip pouch and even a large leather zippered compartment complete with business card holder on the back of the roll. This knife roll can be carried either by the comfortable leather handle or by using the cotton webbed shoulder strap. Both detachable and fully adjustable, the shoulder strap stays in place once on your shoulder and is quite comfortable.Once unrolled there are 10 knife pockets available. Once the knives are placed in these pockets, there is an extra thick canvas sleeve to cover and protect your knives while rolled. The inside zippered leather pocket and pen area keep necessities close at hand. Once rolled, everything stays securely in place and is secured with Dalstrong’s custom fasteners, zippers, & extra strong buckles.Lastly, if you are considering buying this as a gift for another culinary aficionodo (or just for yourself), you can be assured that this product will have that “wow” impact that you are looking for when it arrives. The knife roll comes in a satin drawstring bag inside a beautiful Dalstrong logo gift box. From beginning to end, I felt like this product was worth every dollar spent and then some.

Great Roll
First and Foremost I am not a professional Chef, but I enjoy cooking and have been building a quality knife set for years. Prior to this roll I had a cheaper knife roll I bought for around $25. It worked to keep the knives together, but didn’t fit all my knives and the pockets were falling apart pretty quickly. I made the decision to upgrade to a better knife roll because I’ve invested in nice knives, it only made sense to invest in a container to keep them protected. The price of Knife rolls varies drastically and it’s clear you get what you pay for based on my $25 purchase. While I’d LOVE to be able to get a $500 roll, it just wasn’t practical for me to spend that much. I ended up going with the Nomad in black and I’m very happy with the purchase. It’s well made with strong heavy duty materials. It looks great and holds all my knives securely. In one of the reviews, I read that the straps were “flimsy”; that is not my experience AT ALL! The holes are kinda small, but they’re easily widened and I imagine they will overtime on their own, but the straps are heavy duty leather that will last for a very very long time. It’s actually so crisp and clean, I look forward to breaking it in overtime as I like the more worn in look and feel of leather. My guess is that it will take a long time to reach that point because the quality of its make. Very happy with my purchase! It’s hard to imagine how a bag 3x it’s cost could be that much of an improvement over this one, but maybe I’ll see one of the vagabond bags one day. For now and the foreseeable future, this knife roll is everything I was looking for.

Suitable for professional use
This roll has proven the single most valuable purchase I've made in regards to my careerI work 3 cook jobs so obviously I use my knives a lot. I can use 5 knives at once on a really busy day (a slicer, a utility, a parring, and two chef knives one for vegetables and another for tough cuts)Maybe im a dork and dont need to use as many knives but it certainly comes in handy to reach for a clean knife on the knife rack that I KNOW is sharp. I also lend my knives to the coworkers that I trust, which i believe contributes to the kitchens overall effectiveness. Nobody wants to cut with dull knives. It's nice enough and tough enough that I still get compliments on it even though its been wet, had oil stains, and even caught on fire a little bit. It's a tough bag and I doubt you'd need another one anytime soon. The straps are high quality very thick leather. While I thought that the leather would be my favorite parts it's actually the very sturdy buckles and clips that draw your attention and highlight the fine leather. It's also rather comfortable to wear and doesn't impede my movement at all that I can work while having the roll slung around my shoulder (though it does get heavy so I really only ever do that when I forget to restock something on my way out). Check out my pictures to see how the roll looks and how it would seat on your shoulderThe only thing I'd have to say about it is if you work as a professional private chef or some other kitchen where you can safely stash your bag, you might want a roll that's made FULLY of leather. I would never take something like that into 2 of my 3 jobs, but one is a fairly upscale fine dining restaurant where I have a whole station to myself where I could put something like that in a safe spot. You would only need that if you dont mind dropping $400+ on something that you have a genuine passion for. Dalstrong also makes a very nice full leather roll for around that price, I'm sure it's as high quality as the leather straps on this canvas version. So yeah, if you didnt feel like reading all that, just buy the roll if you want something nice but also very tough.
