Excellent book. Highly recommend this one.
I loved it. Read the book in just one day. I enjoyed every paragraph. It is a must book to read if you are an educator at any level. Should be read it by every teacher in pursuing a leadership master or doctorate. The author captured the conflicts and struggling high educated immigrants have to deal when new in this country. Kudos.

Love it!
I had read Antonio Corrales' first book, Undoing the Damage, and thought it was a "must read" for all administrators. As a retired administrator I really enjoy staying current in the field of leadership and reading books that are instructional guides for educators to be successful. I read this book and thought this is a "must read" for all educators especially new teachers and aspiring future administrators. This book provides principles that educators can use to establish successful schools weaved throughout a narrative and applied to real-life situations. I found the narrative to be entertaining, educational, and emotional to read. I could not put the book down. And although the principles might seem like "common sense" you would be amazed at how many administrators either do not know them or do not apply them in their schools. It is astonishing! This book brings those principles to the forefront and reminds us what "successful" administrators should be doing. So no matter what level of an educator you might be, you will not regret buying this book as you will take something valuable away from reading it.

Never Give Up and Dream Big! Know Your Goals and Follow Them!
The book is a must-read for those seeking to be inspired by the remarkable journey and the grit of Gustav, an immigrant from Hungary who despites the many difficulties along the way, gradually finds professional, personal balance and success in his life. By working hard, having an open mind to learning, knowing his goals, and doing what is right for self and others among other aspects, Gustav becomes a stronger and wiser individual. In this way, Gustav reaches unimaginable heights both as an educator and as a person. The author smartly embeds research-based practice in educational leadership in Gustav's personal story. The effect is a beautiful summary of what constitutes great advice in a variety of areas in educational leadership (i.e.: finance, public relations, instruction...). This is a highly recommended book for PK-12th school leaders at any level: classroom, school, and central office or higher education leaders who seek long-term dreams, persevere, teach, learn, and inspire others along the way. The story reminds the reader that education is the most powerful weapon to change one's life, and in turn, the world of people around.

The story of all your children’s teachers
This books tells the story of Gustav as he immigrates to the United States, and then progresses through all the echelons of the American public school system: from becoming a classroom teacher, to principal, and beyond, Gustav's story takes us into every single aspect of the American public school system, and exemplifies the nine principles referred to in the title. You are guaranteed to know your child’s school teachers and administrators better through this book, and you will recognize them as Gustav becomes them through the chapters; Wherever you are in the US, Gustav is in your school system.Corrales experiences in this field are made accessible by a narrative that is easy to read but filled with clarity and important details. Within the story, Corrales offers the principles that propel Gustav forward through his newfound career, and which are essential for any school district to thrive. These principles are then expanded in the very thorough appendix, completing this well-researched book, filled with citations that prove that these nine principles are keys to success.

Prepare to Be Engaged!
This book takes the study of leadership to a new level. So many authors make the mistake of overwhelming the reader with research instead of engaging the reader with powerful analogies. Antonio Corrales will make these leadership principles stick because he uses a powerful story to frame them. This is a MUST READ for anyone who aspires be be an educational leader.
