Struggled a bit at first until I realized you can pull the metal piece, that holds the yarn, you need to pull it out all the way for it to hold on its own haha! It's simple and quick to set up and run smoothly as long as you keep an eye on your yarn when you are winding it!

I will say this, there are definitely more pro's to having this thing than there are con's. But, because there are no 1/2 star options when writing reviews (which I think needs to somehow change), well...Let's get on with why I think that the pro's outweigh the con's. So, if you're a first time user of the Yarn Ball Winder, you may be confused by what comes out of the box. But don't let it intimidate you. Trust me, and others online who have been raving about one of these, they are a life and time saver! Especially if you have projects where you need more manageable yarn balls.Initially putting this thing together can be a bit irritating on your hands because of the bumps on the spindle and the slots being a bit tight fitting. (Personal note: depending on your tolerance for textures or irritants in general, this is more of a range thing. Irritating for me is mild, but could be more painful for others, so please keep that in mind.) Also, the table clamp piece is not ment to fit thick tables (check directions for exact measurements).But, for me, those down dissuade me from constantly using this product. I LOVE this yarn baller. I cannot tell you the time I've saved and the pain I've avoided by getting this. And unless you have a really snarled and tangled mess of yarn (we all do sometimes), making "cakes" will be a breeze.Yes, this doesn't make the conventional "ball" of yarn, but center pull "cakes" that are pretty easy to use and ready to go for whatever project you may have! I have tried to use this yarn baller on worsted weight and some bulky weights, and a velvet like type yarn. It does take an adjusment period to get used to, if you've never used one before, to work out quirks and the like. But it doesn't take long.I can't imagine my yarn arts life without this anymore. I have been missing this!

Muy bueno pude recoger los hilos sobrantes hacer bonitas y tener todo organizado a la hora de tejer.

I like this product it's the cheapest I could find with decent reviews and does what it needs to. BUT. If the bottom of your table you attach it to is not completely flat i.e. no rounded curves, it will not stay on for long without readjustments. Also it cannot wind a 5oz skein or 362 yards fully. Maybe 2/3 of the way so it has small capacity. Still getting the hang of it but does the job and nice that the blue version comes with micro crochet hooks

It works just like it says the only thing is it doesn't fit all table sizes so I had to use my coffee table instead of my work desk. Other then that it was great!

This product is very fun to use a bit clumsy and difficult at times. Once you mess around with it it’s honestly very satisfying to just watch. It comes in a little baggy you can store it in once you are done with I find helpful. It works really well on small thin yarn but plush yarn I would suggest going slow if not doing it at all.
