Provides Good Support
I have now purchased 5 of these Aircast A60 Ankle supports in the last 6 years. I'm can get as many as two years of daily use from one before it needs to be replaced, sometimes more. I just recently purchased the fifth brace, so I'm averaging 1 1/2 years per brace. For me, they are thin enough that I can wear them with any shoe or boot that I have with no problem. I have never had to consider a different shoe size in order to accommodate the brace. I'm a male, so I can't attest to how they fit under woman's shoes. The A60 isn't solid like a cast, it's flexible enough that your foot can move normally, but gives enough support that I don't twist my ankle due to my torn ligaments. As with most things of this type, it takes a little time to get used to wearing it. There was some minor irritation at first, but I long ago became accustomed to it and now I usually don't even remember I'm wearing it. Prior to finding the Aircast A60, I would twist my ankle on a regular basis. Since using the A60, I have not twisted my ankle even once. There have been many occasions where I would have suffered a painful twist but was totally saved by the brace. My issues with my ankle are my own, yours may be different. But for me, I never go out without the A60 brace, it's made a world of difference.

Hard to get on/off and hurt my ankle
I was truly excited to receive this brace, especially after reading the fantastic reviews. I expected it to outperform the lace-up brace prescribed by my doctor. Unfortunately, I ended up purchasing it twice; the first one in my size was too small to fit my foot. The second one was a size up, and while I managed to get my foot in, I experienced significant pain from the side braces when I tried to walk. I attempted to adjust the braces, but that didn’t help. I also tried adding extra padding between my ankle and the brace, but it kept shifting with each step, which was equally painful. I’m sure it will work for some people, but for me it didn’t and now I’m on the hunt for a brace that won’t hurt me when I walk. My wish is that the stiff braces on the sides could be adjusted to my ankle and that it would be easier to get on and off.

Necessary Support
I ruptured the anterior tibialis tendon, making cycling, jogging and even walking difficult and extremely painful. The Aircast A60 Ankle Support Brace made it possible to at least walk distances, and even medium grade hikes, as well as use my ArcTrainer. The brace provides the necessary support and stability, subtly redirecting the foot forward, making it possible to use/exert pressure on the front of the foot, and not just the heal. In my case these was still discomfort, the struts - providing the stability - also pressed directly on the damaged area. To increase mobility, longevity, and also support, I coupled the brace with high hiking boots... beyond my ArcTrainer and CrossTrainer, using the brace with low cut shoes proved ineffective quite quickly.I've tried several braces, Aircast A60 Ankle Support Brace is - in my opinion - the best for daily usage, ease of fitting, and cost effectiveness.

Highly recommended
I am 70 years old and have serious back issues that cause me to have limited walking mobility. Walking is not fun. Recently I was fitted with orthotic leg braces that help significantly with this. I had hoped they would also help me with biking too as I ride my mountain bike regularly, around 30 miles per week but unfortunately, with their flat piece design along the bottom, the orthotic braces made biking very difficult, instead of better.I did some further investigation and discovered these a few months ago; The Aircast A60 Ankle Support Brace. I bought two and quickly realized they were perfect for biking and improved my riding dramatically. My ankles never try to “roll” outward and I am much sure footed.I also use these for yardwork including cleaning rain gutters on a ladder. I highly recommend the Aircast A60 Ankle Support Brace, and will buy them again as they wear out. Be patient as you become familiar with these. No disappointments. The only downside for me was having to buy a left and a right brace from two separate venders.

Size up if you have a larger ankle or swelling
I am a size 7-7.5 woman’s in shoes. My ankle is a bit swollen and I bought a size small. It was tight fitting around the ankle. I had some extra self-adhesive Velcro strips, so I modified the brace to fit. I was thinking of buying a larger size, but my modifications of lengthening the closures with Velcro strips was effective. Overall, good support, especially with ankle instability after a sprain and with mild tendon tenderness.
