Will these lids fit half gallon mason jars?

As long as they are wide-jmouth they will fit any size jar.

can these be used with a nurtichef vacuum sealer hose attachment?

I can’t really say since I have never done that. The pump it comes with is fine. I have used these tops for a few years and they work great .

With this kit do you still need to pound the veggies before inserting in the jar?

Hi Joy. No, you do not need to pound the veggies first. Nice, right? However, if that is what you typically do, there is certainly no downside in doing so. (We want these to remove work from you - not add any). Also, if you add a starter culture that magnifies the amount of probiotics, the veggies will ferment perfectly even without pounding them first.
