a good read well written for the beginner in mind
I really liked reading this kindle edition book very easy to read. Straight to the point I hope the author writes another book on techniques you can add to this book. I really loved the pictures in the kindle edition too it shows these people took the time to think about which pictures to put in the book. Unlike other books where they just show one start picture and then the finished one. Thanks to these people I'm starting to like working out again, the techniques are worded very simple and they also give you a sample of a short work out plan from sets and Reps to a time limit to do the techniques in. I'll be looking forward to another release from this author.

Harder than I thought, but in a good way
Though it is difficult to understand exactly what is being described with some of the techniques, a simple Youtube search immediately corrects this and makes it a minor issue. Without the book I wouldn't have known what to search. It has a comprehensive list of exercise techniques, an index for them, and describes their original names and what the components each exercise are referred to as in English.I was surprised at how the techniques immediately showed in my muscle tone. So, I definitely love learning from this book. The writing style is engrossing, despite being essentially being a technical manual.I wanted a change from weight lifting and a new challenge, this book is interesting and truly does challenge me.

Good on Basics
The book advocates and explains the use of the basic moves of capoeira as a conditioning tool. The text is very clear, the exercises are very well explained, with plenty of photos. Mr. Taylor also outlines several possible exercise routines constructed from the basic movements. The author makes the point that his book concentrates on the conditioning aspects of capoeira movements; it is NOT a primer on the art itself. If you are "into" bodyweight conditioning, this book will provide some useful and challenging alternatives.

Solid movements, I'm always looking for ways to add new movements to my practice and this book was solid. Still not a replacement for an actual teacher but it still gives you moves that you can take the time to learn and master then figure out how to bind them together into a nice flow. It's the puzzle of movement that is beautiful. Certainly give it a read.

Great tips!
Many of the stretches in here can be found in various yoga books and whatnot, but the information is still very informative. If you are interested in learning capoeira you definitely need this book to show you how to master the stretching techniques that will help with this martial arts style.

If you're a serious capoeirista, get this book!
If you're serious about capoeira, this book will make you significantly better in several important skills along with improving your conditioning and ability to play in the roda for longer periods of time.I absolutely LOVE this book ... and if you've been away for capoeira for a while, this book is a great way to get yourself back into condition when you go back to your studio as well.

Great manual for capoeiristas and exercise fans alike
It's important to say first of all what this book isn't - despite appearances, it won't teach you how to play capoeira; only a couple of the movements included are kicks, and there's no attempt to explain how movements can be linked into sequences or used in a game. Instead this is a description of exercises drawn from capoeira that could be used on their own by people looking for a different kind of work out (something like a much more dynamic and acrobatic form of yoga), or by capoeiristas looking for ideas of how to build the strength, balance and flexibility needed to develop and learn movements at whatever school or classes you attend.Every exercise is clearly explained, and the specific benefits of each (strength, balance, flexibility, agility, endurance, fat-burning, etc) are set out, to help people construct training programmes that deliver the results they're looking for.As a relative newcomer to capoeira (about 9 months experience) I've found this book the most useful reference I've tried so far. The reality is that most full capoeira movements are far too complex or subtle to capture or explain in still pictures, so books that try to teach too much are doomed to fail. In contrast, this book concentrates on simpler movements (supported by some very clear photographs) which work well for training. It's still helpful to know capoeira from classes, but I could imagine a total beginner picking this up and being able to follow 90% or more.

Great conditioning book for people interested in improving their Capoeira skills.
This is a great conditioning book for Capoeira. This book will not teach you how to pull specific Capoeira moves like "meia lua compasso" or "moenda" but instead, it will give you a set of conditioning exercises that will enable you to pull this moves in the future.

Pretty Basic
If you have been playing Capoeira for 6 months or more, this book is not for you..It's very basic and everything that is covered in the book, you should already know from training in class. This book might be a good introduction to the Art but that's it.
