Keeps tea hot for 8 hours
I fill this with boiling hot water, let it sit for 10 min, empty and refill with fresh hot water and 1 tea bag. Great for tea later in the day, or after dinner. The lid seals effectively and pours without dripping.

Update: Still fantastic after three years!
I really love this carafe. I work at home, and I make coffee in the morning, pouring and sipping throughout the day (I also love my Contigo travel cup, for which I've already posted glowing reviews). This carafe keeps the coffee hot ALL day (recommend filling with hot water first to warm it up). And the second-most-important thing is that it does not drip, nor does it make a steam-escape noise. For the past few years I've been using the Thermos stainless steel carafe. It worked well at keeping the coffee hot, but was prone to drips--especially when removing the lid. It also made a very annoying hissing sound all day long, which opening the lever helped only for moments before starting again (I even replaced the lid to see if that was the problem--it happened even with a new lid).I ordered the larger (and cheaper) Cresimo carafe as a replacement (nice because my new coffee maker is 14-cups, which the Cresimo would hold), but it was unacceptably messy, dripping after every pour. I returned that. I thought I would give this one a shot because even though my Thermos carafe still served the basic purpose, it too was messy and that NOISE thing.I've had this for several days now and really like it. To me, it's worth the money to have silence and a no-drip experience. Pricy, but worth it, IMOUPDATE: Just a quick update. It's been three years since purchase, and I use this on a daily basis. By keeping my coffee hot and fresh all day, I find I drink fewer cups over the course of the day and waste less coffee. I fill this carafe every day around 7 am after the coffee is brewed and if there's any left by 5-6 pm, it's still fairly hot. Couldn't be happier with this product.

Stays hot for over 24 hours
Not necessarily recommend you leave things in there that long but I can attest coffee was still hot the next morning over the holidays when I was making coffee for ten people and had to keep it going throughout the day. Also don’t recommend you put it in the dishwasher like me (oops) but I was pleasantly surprised I hadn’t ruined it. Still works awesome. This is the brand my dad recommended from when we lived in Japan, and I’m glad I took his advice. It looks as described. Mine is dirty so no pic:

It is NOT Made In Japan. It’s just another Chinese product
For almost $50 I was expecting it at least being made in Japan. The company is owned by Japan. My Dad had Zojirushi thermos back in 1989 and that thing kept coffee warm for 24 hours and was made in Japan. I bought this thinking it’ll be the same Japanese product but it’s a Chinese product. Well made it seems like but large tag written made in China.

Keeps contents drinkably hot for 24 hours
I bought this to replace the Emsa Sabra carafe I bought earlier this year. In comparison, I filled the Emsa glass lined vacuum bottle with and the Zojirushi with boiling water. The temperature at that time was 205 degrees F in the Emsa, and 206 degrees in the Zojirushi. This was at 11:30 pm, so I went to bed. The next morning at 10:30 am, the water in the Emsa was 121.5 degrees - barely warm. I would not enjoy coffee or tea at this temperature. The Zojirushi water was 171.7 degrees, a drop of only 34.3 degrees. The Emsa dropped 84 degrees! After 24 hours , the temp in the Zojirushi was 140 degrees, warmer than the Emsa was after 12 hours! The only thing I found inconvenient was the sticky glue residue left on the carafe after removing a couple of stickers from the side. I used the peanut butter method to remove this.

Works with Technivorm Coffee Maker
I needed a caraffe to replace the caraffe that came with my Technivorm coffee maker as the Technivorm supplied stainless steel caraffe did not hold heat. There is a good bit of conflicting information in the reviews so I am sharing my experience. Without the top, this 1.5 liter caraffe is EXACTLY the same heighth and size as the Technivorm stainless caraffe. This caraffe DOES activate the button on the Technivorm coffee maker that starts and stops the coffee maker when the caraffe is removed. It holds hot coffee for hours and is excellent quality. With the top removed, the hole in the top of this caraffe is larger than the hole in the top of the Technivorm caraffe, so the plastic Technivorm funnel sinks down into this caraffe. I am working on something to suspend it, but the funnel isn't necessary and keeping the coffee hot more than makes up for this. I am very happy with this caraffe. Much better than the one supplied by Technivorm.

Not made in Japan
Out of the box the feel was great. But it's made in China according to a sticker on the bottom side. I would've been fine with it had it not been so expensive (priced as if it came from Japan for the size and features). The plastic seems high quality but there's too many nooks and crannies to wash.

Best performing carafe, keeps things HOT for hours.
In my search for a good coffeemaker with integrated grinder, I've tried several that come with a thermal carafe. Was hoping to reduce the energy used by coffeemakers with glass carafes, which also tend to make the coffee taste overcooked after a short period. But it seems all the thermal carafes that come with coffeemakers are awful; the coffee starts lukewarm and quickly cools down from there. Since I've had several Zojirushi travel mugs that were outstanding, I decided to go back to a glass carafe coffeemaker together with this Zojirushi carafe. As soon as my coffee is done brewing I pour myself a cup, turn the coffeemaker off and put the rest in the Zojirushi carafe. Best solution ever! The coffee stays HOT for hours and doesn't get that overcooked burnt taste.I also like that the Zojirushi lid is very easy to take on and off, easy to clean, and easy to pour. The carafe has a wide mouth making it easy to clean the inside with a brush. Very highly recommended.
