I've used a few cheap punchdown tools that came as part of kits (I'm not a pro installer) but they were either hard work or broke quickly (or both!).I've used this to punch cat6 cable into my 24-port patch panel at home along with wall sockets around the house and it's been great! Definitely feels like you get what you pay for!What it costs more over the cheap kitsbyou'll save in sanity and the need to redo numerous cables =)

I got this for my engineer brother who has used it to wire terminals in a CAT5/6 Ethernet. The tool is robust and appears to be well made, it is heavier and slightly bigger than similar types of tools he has used in the past. It comes with a spare blade in the base of the tool, where you can store other blades if you wish. It does not use the usual scissor action but an impact action to cut the wire. If you are used to the former then it may take time to master the technique needed for this tool. He also commented that it looks durable and that it will last for a good amount of time. The current price is £8.99 which he thinks is reasonable for its quality, usefulness and potential longevity. He is pleased with this product and is happy to recommend.

If you get the wire in place correctly it is a very effective stripper.

I always like having more than one punch down tool accessible.
