Amazing and fulfilling story!
This story managed to give me nostalgia and perspective at the same time! Every character is fully developed, every story thread neatly tied up, every page engaging and purposeful. Brian K Vaughn is my absolute favorite comic book authors so if you like his other works, you'll like Paper Girls!

My Granddaughter Loved It
I'm writing this based on feedback from my 14 year old granddaughter, who first became aware of this book via the Paper Girls TV series which she loved. Although she's not usually a graphics novel girl, she really liked this one, bit for plot and the illustrations. This is a massive book, so it's not something the reader will easily slip into a backpack for a casual read.

Paper Girls is fun, addicting, and the right kind of nostalgic
Brian K. Vaughan has made a career telling feminist stories without imposing male assumptions about femininity. It would be more poetic had a woman wrote this series, but it doesn’t take away from BKV’s ability to evoke dynamic childhood emotions and revelations. Cliff Chiang’s art jumps off the pages and Matt Wilson’s colors make every panel pop. The story is nostalgic but doesn’t fall on its nostalgia to sell the book. While the third act feels abrupt, it threads the needle and lands on both feet, even if the landing is a little rough. Though Y - The Last Man swept the comic book world off its feet, Paper Girls is the net that catches you when traversing the creator owned works of Brian K. Vaughan.

This is what happens when newspapergirls get displaced in time.
This is the story of 4 newspapergirls, only 12, who are caught in the crossfire of other people's war. The warring parties are from the near future and the far future. They end up displaced in time. The story is both surreal and hyperreal —— ¡war is cruel, horrific, unforgiving, and no place for children! I highly recommend this book.

That writing, tho.
The art is good. It doesn’t do anything special, but it does a great job of selling the story and setting a mood and being very easy to follow. Along with the writing, the little touches really sell the period of time, like the hairstyles and bike styles and details. The story concept is weird, lots of the plot choices make no sense, it starts in the middle and jumps all over, and the events are unsatisfying. The actual writing, tho! The characters, their personalities, their interactions, and their shattering innocence is are so endearing and heartbreaking. They grow on every page, and I found myself attached them by the end.

Dope Aesthetics, brilliant blending of genres, fantastic story.
Went in completely blind when I started reading the book, and was completely thrown out of expectations of what the story was gonna be.Paper Girls is an excellent blend of genres of old-school aesthetics and science-fiction futurism. Each turn of the page throws something new and progresses the plot even further and has some of the best character development I've seen in a while.Highly recommend the full compendium. It is definitely worth it.Also, do not take acid when reading this. You'll probably think you have dyslexia and that your making up the story in your mind.
