Good Tech and affordable
I found the square design of the Soundbar to be nicer looking live. Looks like a nice piece of furniture. The Sound is great. I was not getting a real Stereo sound from the TV alone but the Soundbar is adds that. Watched several big Musicals and big action blockbusters. I like surround sound but in the space my TV is set up in the Stereo is close and works. One HUGE plus that I love is the new-tech, mega easy set up for my ROKU set up which has completely replaced the old, UnGodly expensive cable TV set up. This new adjusted tech reflects the EXTREME cost savings. It is simply plugging the soundbar in and clicking on the settings in ROKU and it is done. I have become a big fan of TCL products. The less costly ROKU TV's have surprising clear pictures. A slight struggle with the TV's sound but this bar helps that. And it is designed for ROKU tvs so that is many TV brands that have ROKU sets that can be used as well.

ROKU TV’s Need A SoundBar
I purchased a 43” ROKU Select 4K TV for a bedroom. I wall mounted the streaming TV and the setup and Wi-Fi connection worked perfectly. However, the sound was terrible. I tried watching movies, sports, news, game shows and the TV sound was awful. I was going to return the TV but after completing the work for the wall mount installation I decided to search for soundbars. I found this TCL Alto R1 soundbar and bought it. Just like the TV installation the TCL soundbar setup is simple and it connects quickly. The improvement in sound quality was dramatic and I am very pleased with how much it improved the audio output. It does not have deep bass but ROKU has a separate bass speaker (small subwoofer) that can be purchased if you really want to hear deep bass on movie soundtracks or when playing music. This TCL soundbar should work with any ROKU enabled tv from TCL, Hisense or Insignia.

I got This for a Song
Not literally. I took advantage of the 3/4 off deal and got it for $49.99. I have had many home theater options on this, my main, TV, from an Onkyo Receiver and 7 speakers plus subwoofer, to a Fire Stick and Echo Studio with Echo Sub. They all sounded good, but were complex, requiring multiple remotes, power sources, changing sound settings before viewing and in one instance, not turning off when asked. I especially disliked the wiring. This unit requires one power connection, works completely off of the ROKU remote, pairs easily and sounds really good. The bass is not mind numbing and you don't hear insects buzzing behind your head, but speech is clear and music sounds quite good. Power levels are more than adequate for normal listening. This will not replace a good sound system for music reproduction, but is outstanding for everyday TV and movies. It only works with ROKU TVs and will not pair with other speakers. It will pair with your phone, laptop or other blue tooth-enabled devices.

Super Easy Set Up
I got this because I have a Roku TV. The set up to connect this with the TV was super easy, only took a couple minutes to open the box and get it set up. The sound is fine, I don’t think it’s a super high quality but it doesn’t sound bad, it’s a cheap soundbar, but it projects the sound towards me now, instead of down at the TV stand like the TV does. I also don’t need any other remote, it works seamlessly with the TV remote.

Would have rated a 2... Or a 5
I got this to go with my elderly father's TCL Roku TV to hear it better and because of the claimed dead simple set up. It sounds great with a good selection of EQ presets. For the first few months, however, it would occasionally fail to connect with the TV and I had to restart everything to get it working again. Unacceptable and I'd have given 2 stars. There have been several firmware updates, though, and it's been working flawlessly for months. This would have meant 5 stars, but I see it's doubled in price. Still very good, but not the value it was.

Decent bar, TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SUPPORT FOR WARRANTY.
Starting on a positive note but ultimately I'm throwing this in the trash.... I purchased this soundbar on the basis of budget and review statements, compared to other comparable models and quality. Also, we have a Roku TV in the room I intended the soundbar for, so it ultimately made sense to purchase this TCL 2.0 RS1 SOUNDBAR, which is fully wireless! Plug-N-Play at it's finest👌👍 All updates come through the TCL ROKU TV and the pairing/update prompts are flawless. However.... After a little longer than 6 months one of the speakers blew November 18th 2024. Now, a little about my experience with audio.. I've installed audio equipment in cars and trucks for over 25 years, and countless home audio systems as well, and when a speaker or subwoofer goes, it just goes. There's no amount of "reseting the speakers to default settings" that can fix a physically blown speaker. So to say that, paired with the wonderful customer support agent I spoke with at TCL in regards to a possible replacement I'm torn on this review. The soundbar performed great from the start, I pushed this thing early on to be sure it was a smart buy, with its aparant "self audio regulation" (as you turn it up higher it automatically lessens the bass and adjusts the mid's to regulate sound quality as I suspect, to mitigate blown speakers.) This soundbar performed wonderfully until it didn't. But maybe I got a lemon.~~~UPDATE 12/26/24 customer support failed time and time again. Worst customer support I've ever experienced. After multiple calls doing the whole troubleshooting, reset the soundbar, now reset the tcl TV run around I gave up and threw it away. Buying another vizio sound bar and calling it resolved from my end. Never buying TCL ANYTHING AGAIN.

Nice soundbar
Very inexpensive soundbar that is super easy to use and connect. Very good sound quality and a HUGE step up from the TV’s built in speakers. Once paired with your compatible TCL TV, everything is seamless.
