Excellent tool
Made very well and very useful for holding machining work and levelling heavy objects. The included heads help with working with different shaped objects.

Little Giants are a BIG Help...
I love these things! They are very versatile and can be adjusted and adapted to a variety of support functions on my mill. I bought a second one because I found the first one extremely useful, and I am looking to add a few more for good measure. Definitely one of those tools I would recommend having around.

Works Great for Unsticking High-Rise Curtain wall Aluminum Windows
Our high rise condo recently had some outside work done where the tradesman forcibly bounced off our window mullion system. A couple of my unit windows became stuck shut. And I mean REALLY stuck shut. I couldn't for the life of me open them. Bought this little micro-jack and VERY CAREFULLY "unstuck" the first window. My guess was that it took 500+ pounds of force or more to get this to happen . And now, the first window opened (altho after a "learning curve"). Once opened I applied an industrial silicone lubricant so it wouldn't bind again when lowered. Now, it opens and lowers with acceptable (but more than prior) effort. But, then again, the window frames are still bowed in because of the "enthusiastic" tradesmen. Starrett is the Cadillac for micro-jacks. Get the entire kit, though, just like I did. I had been quoted $200 to have someone come in and get my windows (maybe) to being working/operable. Now, for the $70 I spent on the Starrett kit I'll easily do it myself. I will now release the other two inoperable windows in my unit, and offer the tool to other owners in our Building who suffered similarly. Yeah Starrett! You're the BEST!!!!

What I like about this model in particular is the small size ...
As expected Starrett quality, even modern Starrett, is quite high. What I like about this model in particular is the small size makes it very suitable for use with my Sherline equipment.

Good Quality
Quality is very good. All parts are free of burrs with good surface finish. The threaded parts fit nicely. All what you would expect from Starrett. The only down side is the price. These are not hard parts to make (although Brown & Sharpe screwed them up- see my review of their piece of junk I reviewed 599-680) so it is over priced IMO. Some may be disappointed with the lack of a case but I wasn't since I plan on putting it in my foam filled tool box drawer. Some complained about the size. It's a machinist jack used for supporting parts on milling machines. Usually with a vise which this easily reaches (3.7" with the serrated base and both risers). Add more spacer blocks if you need to. They also have a slightly larger one but I didn't need the extra 3/4" of length and thought it might be too tall for some of my applications.
