Came quick when ordered. Learned how to rekey locks at former job and was very pleased to see that I could get a kit for my personal use.

I enjoy the way the fact that everything is all in one with this kit

Kit came with everything included. The box provided that contains all of the pins is flimsy and poor quality. This is important to know because with a flimsy box, the pins and parts will mix and spill. One corner of the plastic box was damaged during shipment so now there is a hole which will allow parts to escape if not repaired. Kit is very comprehensive, but the box is sub-standard.

My only complaint is it would have been nice if the pins included were color coded, like the pins in professional locksmith rekey sets, but this was fine. It was harder to distinguish the key pin sizes because they are all brass colored. I was able to rekey the sets and even replaced some bent springs. Everything is pretty much included. So if you want to save yourself a rekey fee or if one of your lock's pins decides to drop in the tumbler, this is a set for you.

I work for a non-profit so we're always looking for ways to save a little. This set is about half the price of others. Plus it includes long tweezers, which I soon realized should be mandatory for handling some of the wafer-thin top pins. The only negative--and if you're careful it shouldn't matter--is that the pins are not colored by size. Since I used to do lock changes sitting in my van, periodically I would have to scoop up the pins that slipped through my fingers to the floor. I could sort them easily because of the color-coding. Now I'm careful to take out just what I need and re-seal the plastic bag. I think I can live with that.

Thus was a great deal and perfect for what I needed! I don't really care for the plastic case. Only because if you were to drop you'd have a huge mixed up mess. I bought the kit with the metal case and clasps. What I just purchased will go in there.

First off, this has plenty of pins and in addition, also plenty of most of the easy to damage or lose parts on a kwikset lock. All of these seem to be of excellent quality and of the dozen or so of the pins that I measured they seem to be precisely machined. This part of the kit is excellent.The tools on the other hand are crap. The die that cut the key gauge was dull enough that the gaps are about 0.002" smaller than the nominal size, let alone a key that is cut slightly oversize. Similarly the deadbolt cap remover just didn't fit the deadbolt cap because the head was machined poorly.The box is also problematic. If you're going to be using this frequently, probably the best thing to do is get a new box for everything (I like using cheap plastic lidded jewelry/craft boxes, ASIN: B085XZ22PL for collections of small parts). Fortunately all of the pins are bagged but are unlabeled so if the box broke in shipping (mine didn't but others have complained about it) or if the bags get mixed up, you're going to have to measure them to figure out which is which. Also the people who assembled the kit cut out one of the dividers so that the smaller tools would fit in the box but they cut a divider holding one of the most used pieces.
