Excellent product and great seller
Great product. If you’re looking for Wires-X and YSF take a look at FT5DR. Seller is awesome. Received product in great condition and on time!

A good HT, easy to use and program.
This is a great radio. Very easy to program with the keypad. Also easy to use and navigate through the user interface. The audio is really good for the size of the speaker. The battery life could be better. Charging will take a while. Recommend using the fast charge cradle sold separately, but the charge time is cut down significantly. Besides the battery life and charging, a great radio.

Great radio and easy to program without a computer
A great radio for the money! I have a Yaesu FT-65 and a couple of Baofengs, and the Yaesu FT-70DR is now my daily carry. Easy to program without a computer. I did order a rapid charger and extra battery, but the battery is a little better than expected so far based on other reviews. All in all, a nice HT radio with digital for anyone using Fusion, and built extremely well. Don’t be afraid to buy this radio if you are wanting and HT with digital.

I don't like reading and I'm a new HAM with minimal experience ...
I received by HT a few days ago. For the record, I don't like reading and I'm a new HAM with minimal experience with these radios. However, I was able to quickly figure out how to set frequencies, change bands, program memories, scan frequencies, change transmit power, etc with minimal reading of the manual. This device feels good in hand. After some manual programming, I used the Yaesu software to program the device. While that software will accomplish the job, there is better programming software available. A previous comment about requiring "three separate key inputs" is not entirely accurate. You only need to use the UNLOCK if you have locked the keys. Otherwise, you depress the volume button and turn the MF Dial to adjust the volume.Overall, I'm very happy with this HT so far.

Great radio, but........
I'm a new ham, and this radio is amazing!!! However, (there's always a catch) the battery life is awful. I've owned ham radios of one kind or another for close to 30 years because I like to use them as "scanners". They are far cheaper than a traditional handheld scanner, (which can easily run $400 or $500 for a really decent one). I finally decided to 'bite the bullet' and get my ticket. I also decided to get a the FT-70D to begin my ham journey. After all these years, and all of the radios I've owned, this one has the worst battery life out of any of them. It's really ashame because Yeasu is a great company, and I've always looked to them for quality and dependability. The quality is there, but they've really dropped the ball regarding the battery. I read other reviews before I bought this radio, and most of them suggested buying an extra battery (some may have been said partly in jest), so I did. I am so glad. I also bought the car charger because I do a lot of driving. It's also important to note that I was unable to get the software to work with the cable that it came with. All in all it really is a great radio. Just keep your eyes open when buying it. Hopefully someone will make another battery that will last longer. In any case I'm definitely making this my go-to HT. Hope this review helps. '73

and I have to say Im very happy with this radio
This is my second Yaesue HT (other one is an FT-60r), and I have to say Im very happy with this radio. The build and sound quality are very good. The radio is easy to program manually. I tried to use the free software from Yaesu to program the radio, but couldn't get it to work. From my research, I found other's have the same issue with the software. Not a big loss for me, as the radio is easy to program by hand, and its always good to know how to program manually in a pinch.Great way to get into Fusion without breaking the bank.73's
