There's a smell but when aired out it disappeared. Brush are soft and wash them gently after use and gently wipe on clean towel then air dry. So far so good time will tell how long it'll keep it's softness.

The brushes are very soft and work well to put on makeup. I have not tried washing them yet so I don't know how they will hold up to that. A case to keep them in would have been nice and instructions on which brush to use for what application.

These brushes are dense and soft enough. The handle is neither too heavy nor too flimsy.. This set include great precision brushes. Face brushes are decent and eye brushes are good. The beauty blenders are soft and expand to a great size. The silicone brush cleaner is also useful.
