Royal & Langnickel 21ml Gouache Painting Colour (Pack of 24)

Good value at a good price. Not for pro use.

I am very pleased with this set; I've used gouache periodically ever since my student days and I've always enjoyed it as a painting medium.I was a bit sceptical given the price range as there's a lot of rather indifferent, low quality paint being sold as gouache by some manufacturers, but from the outset I could tell these paints were of fairly good quality.They are thick and of creamy consistency out of the tube; they mix well and are very compliant to work with. There are no ratings for lightfastness marked on the tubes, but they seem well-pigmented and have very good coverage. There's a good range of colours in the pack with two different tubes of white – one marked as Titanium, the other just “White” - it is clearly intended as a mixing white. Very useful indeed, as white is the most used pigment of all.The 21ml tubes offer good value for money and although these are described as student quality, they feel and behave like the professional brands.Its just a shame they aren't available to buy as single tube colours.I am most impressed by these; I'll give them a very thorough road-test in the coming weeks, but I have already recommended them to my painting students as a great introductory set to try out the medium.

I'm a learner, i was using watercolours but wanted to give gouache a try and my first painting painted using these Royal & Langnickel 21ml paints was this witch, i really enjoyed using them! I love the range of colours, i'm not an art expert so i can't comment much further on specifics but to me the quality was spot on and exactly what i was after. These larger 21ml tubes will go a long way :) Whilst choosing gouache paints, i nearly spent three times the amount on some Miya jelly pot type ones on amazon but couldn't really afford that much, so i grudgingly looked for a cheaper alternative, i found these!!!! They're absolutely fantastic and for the price unbeatable. I wasn't left with regrets and to be fair, i think me and tubes are probably better together because i'm a messy painter :)

When you're buying "Chrissy Presents" its always difficult to choose what's best.Especially when your not the person who's going to be using the product.On a Christmas/ Gift level, this is an excellent set of Gouache Paints. Definitely ideal for someone who may want to try out Gouache Paints on a first time basis.Gouache Paints are not unlike Watercolour Paint, but the difference is in the painting style.Watercolours are exactly that, water with colour, you paint by building up the painting with washes of colour - using the WHITE of the paper as your WHITE - this means your sort of painting in negative.Whereas, Gouache paints are OPAQUE SOLID COLOURS so your sort of applying colour like paint by numbers - but the best of all is that you can paint WHITE over Dark colours, even black.Gouache was originally used by Illustrators creating Graphic works, back in the 1980's they were called Designers Gouache, with the advent of computers and photoshop its rare to find illustrators still working in traditional mediums. I know I was one of them :-)

Really good size and a lovely range of colours. First time using Gouach but love how it looks on my pet portrait. Only problem was a couple of colours where very waterly but I dont if thats normal since its my first time using the medium... Other than that, will definitely keep using! Works well with watercolour pencils over the top.

This set is great value for money with large tubes and lots of colours. They are great for children or if you're looking for paint that is more like thick water colour.I was looking for a classic opaque paint that goes on smoothly and evenly with a matt finish and this definitely does not do that.

The paint isnt think enough

Needed these as a travel set really. Good value for product. These mix well and applied to correct weighted paper give a nice glossy finish. Good value for the money.
