One of my best purchases, ever!
I decided to try the Figure 9s when I was looking for a simpler, faster way to tighten para cord used for a rain fly. I researched these fully before I purchased them. Some Figure 9s are plastic and I wanted something more durable. These were the most affordable and highest quality I could find.I used these last month when I went camping in New York. During the trip, I used a hammock with a tarp for a rainfly. The rainfly had 8 tie downs (two to the trees and six to the ground). Oh my gosh!!! The Figure 9s made it so easy. Once I got the hang of it, it took such a short time to set up. Adjustment was a breeze because I didn’t have to untangle knots I had tied poorly, and shortening or lengthening a line was a quick 2-second process. I used 4mm para cord and these fit perfectly. For easy travel, I put all of my Figure 9s on a jailers key ring along with the instructions for quick reference. (See photos)It takes a little time to learn how to use them, but they come with illustrations to show you the two different ways to use them.I can’t recommend these enough. I will never have to tie another knot.

A Clever, Capable Gadget for Setting Guy Lines and Ridge Lines
"Love it" may be a bit strong, but I really admire the clever designs from Nite Ize for cable management. The Figure 9 is a great and inexpensive gadget for affixing guy lines and ridge lines - suitable for these because the forces are low and the 1.5mm to 3mm cable diameters are perfect. The how-to-use instructions are etched right on the Figure 9. Of course, if you learned your knots, the gadget would not really be necessary, but using these is quick and sure, with a few ways to employ.

Best solution for quick tie-downs of tents
These beat the small plastic connectors found on most tent manufacturer tie-down systems. I use these all the time and they do very well with para-cord. No knots needed or knots that have to be untied later. It is a simple loop and wrap and pull tight. Works every time. I have larger ones for clothes line or anything with a thicker rope. The Nite Ize site can give specs for which to use with a particular diameter para-cord or rope. I set up a Big Agnes tent that sleeps 8. These take care of the security needed even during strong winds. I check them everyday to ensure they are tight and that is all that is needed. It certainly makes tent camping much easier to complete during setup and then for breakdown at the end of the trip.

Quick & Handy... A bit smaller than thought
I anchor and lash stuff down, pretty regularly. I use to make my own "quick fix" ones, so having these, cheaper than if you paid the "full price", are great to have around! The carabiner style "small" is a bit larger than this style's "small". This one I would say use for tent tie-outs, and it helped me keep my "plant press" clamped, for college. Definitely only up to "Hiking boot shoe lace", at best. The carabiner style may take 2 mm thicker line, but is about a 1/3 bigger in over-all size. These are like 50 cent pieces in your pocket. Watch your sizes with the "Figure 9s" and definitely handy for utilizing regularly. I have 2 XLs(this style), 3 large (carabiner), 5 small (carabiner), & 10 small (this style), mostly used with a couple back-ups.

I am addicted to the Nite Ize products and they work
I have been buying Nite Ize products for a long time and have never had problems. Not much that you can complain about since the workmanship is always top notch and really it's hard if not impossible to break the Figure 9 stuff because it's a chunk of anodized aluminum and sized to match the cordage you are using the max weight and instructions are etched onto to the side. I use them any where a knot would work.... Your saying why don't you just use a knot ? I can use knot and most of the time this is not a problem for me unless it's cold or raining and sometimes dark that's when the Nite Ize stuff makes the difference and provides a rock solid tie down every time

As described
Works as it should.

Weak and too small for my needs.
The tension I maintained on my tent camping ropes were too much for the little guy. I should've ordered bigger ones, but ended up using something totally different.

Great for fast tarp setup
Figure out a way to secure these to the guy lines on your tarp, and the setup/takedown time is cut into a fraction va. tying a traditional knot would take. Combine these with a few guy line sliders, and the time it takes to have a weatherproof shelter strung up and anchored into the ground literally takes all of 2 minutes. There's nothing more tedious than having to rig and tie a minimum of 6 knots around a tarp while trying to get set up in the dark after trudging through the woods all day. These are a game changer and one of many reasons I love nite-ize products
