IF you don't have a Brother printer you need to get one its the best

So far so good! I had previously bought the Brother MFCJ6945DW in Dec 2019. After a couple years it started leaking black ink inside of the printer (changing the cartridge did not help). At first the black ink was just on the unit itself and on the edges of the paper that was being printed and I put up with the problem. But earlier this year it quit working altogether saying some part needed cleaned. I have not had problems with previous Brother printers and am hoping that this printer (Brother MFC-J6955DW) will work for me for many years!

I wanted a printer that would handle 11 x 17 paper. This printer comes with two paper drawers. The second drawer expands to handle 11 x 17 inch paper. It also has a rear feed that allow feeding sheets one at a time. It comes with huge ink cartridges, claiming one year worth of ink. That claim remains to be seen but I will put it to the test.Print quality is excellent, it doesn’t matter if I’m using plain paper, photo paper or card stock. It also allows off site printing, it can copy on both sides when scanning. It can print on both sides, scan to your phone, tablet or computer. It also handles air printing, connecting to the router wireless, RJ-45, or USB to your computer.Bottom line if you want 11 x 17 printing or a printer that can fax, scan, print pictures etc, this printer is for you.

Literally unboxed the printer and set it up three hours ago...Setup was very quick and easy. Afterall this is my third MFC-J69--DW printer, so I am very well aware of how it works. My first was the 6935, which I bought in July 2018 when I started my business. My second was 6945, which I bought a year later so that I also had a printer when I worked from home. I used the 6935 maybe a few times a week at most, so the printer nozzles clogged frequently. After having to clean the printer nozzles for the millionth time and wasting tons of ink, the printer finally told me that the ink absorption pad was full and that I would need to get the printer serviced by a professional. So, time for a new printer.... and I have cleaned the print heads more than a dozen times now.I had to hit the ground running tonight, printing several pages to have hardcopy back-ups of my work, but the printing quality just will not keep up. I printed several invoices after initial setup without any problem. Then I printed several time sheets which were just bad. Cleaned the heads twice. Printed the time sheets, and they looked good. Then I had to print out a few jobs (2 B&W letters, 1 set B&W pdf blueprint drawings), and I had to print EACH JOB TWICE, cleaning the heads between each attempt.Just tried printing another invoice (B&W, just words and numbers on a page). Had to clean the heads (not just the black, but also the magenta, cyan, and yellow for some reason). "The Print Quality Check Sheet" came back with no flaws. Tried printing the invoice again. Just horrible. Had to clean all four heads again. Check sheet is flawless. Let's try one more time. F***. Worse than the first two times. The ink cartridges that came with the printer are already nearly empty. Okay, one last try. Heads are clean, according to the Check Sheet. Not holding my breath. Holy s***, it worked. Finally! This paragraph, this one paragraph, was for a single, one-page invoice.I am returning this thing. I cannot afford to waste not just money on ink but time on cleaning the heads over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over again.Does anyone have a recommendation for a color printer/copier/scanner that can print 8.5x11 AND 11x17, and has a space for #10 (Com10) envelopes?

This is my first Brother printer after being a life long HP user in the Architecture field and I have to say in the Home office to Small office business class, this Brother printer has met almost all my expectations. After years of HP releasing more and more garbage, tons of ads, spyware & bloat, and crazy ink prices, this Brother has worked like a horse with no lost wireless connections, the Ink Vestment tanks show you exactly home much ink you are getting, very accurate page counts. My only ding for this unit in particular is I didn't realize it does not support printing on 3x5 cards which the specs do clearly say the smallest index card size is 5x8, but I just would not have imagine a printer in this day in age not supporting that size, but that's my fault for not looking closer at the specs.I use the 11x17 printing and scanning along with the ADF a lot (it's full 11x17 via the ADF!) and there has been no issues at all! Love it!Overall I would buy this again in heartbeat over the (2) HP 7740's I had gone thru. Along with my last other HP printer in the last decade, I will be looking solely at Brother going forward.

Do not buy if you are looking for a space saving printer - this one is big. For the money, however, the features and performance so far are terrific. Printing is very fast, and the quality is super. No issue getting onto my 5G home network.Scanning is impressive, and even has ability to scan directly to your mobile device or cloud. I had it scan receipts directly to my phone as a PDF, and also directly into Google Drive - it created it's own folder.You an even create shortcuts for the most used feature with settings. It's going to take me a while to explore all of the features.For the cost of just over $400, I do not feel there is anything else that compares for a small home office setup. Previously had another brank "tank" printer, and had nothing but connection issues back to my PC. Seemed every time I wanted to scan, I had to unplug printer and reboot PC. So far, Brother seems to be flawless - even from sleep mode.Will see how long the ink lasts - did a few prints on 11 x 17 as well as borderless - much better than my previous printer.Purchased this one with my own $$ - no free product - I am an actual user, and so far it's nothing but thumbs up. To me, the quality of construction, materials, screen and just fit and finish is on par with more traditional Office grade equipment versus just a "home" printer.
