I ordered this and another very similar boat off of Amazon in the same price range. I reviewed both of them to choose which appeared to be better quality. I chose this one because it came with an extra battery and the batteries were more powerful which I figured would make it run faster and longer. Also the remote control operated off of four double a batteries whereas the other similar model operated on three AAA batteries so I figured the wireless range would be better with this. I bought it for my 4-year-old son's birthday and it runs great and I get to play with it as well! Only had it one day but so far it seems like a great product.

The first unit I received had a bad remote control unit. The power switch wouldn't work properly - you had to jiggle it just right into position to get it to stay on. I immediately initiated a return and received a fully working unit within just a few days.The second unit worked flawlessly. It does require 4 x AA batteries for the remote which are not included. But the rechargeable battery for the boat is provided as is a USB charging cable. It takes over an hour - maybe closer to two - to charge the battery.It took me a minute or two to figure out how to insert the boat battery. You have to pinch the canopy of the boat and pull and it comes free. Not sure how water tight it seals, but normally it's above water and if the boat is upside down then the air pressure should really keep the water out.It comes with two replacement propellers and the nuts that secure them on the shaft as well as a small wrench used to remove the nuts.One neat feature (that is also a drawback) is that the boat ONLY turns on when it's in the water. There's no power switch, just a water sensor. On the one hand, this is nice because you never have to worry about leaving it on accidentally. On the other hand, if the boat flips you will have to go into the water to retrieve it. There is a "flip" feature but it isn't going to work under that circumstance because the power to the boat shuts off despite the instructions claiming that this feature will right the boat. I tried the flip feature in my bathtub with the boat upside down and nothing happened.I never got to try the "flip" feature during normal running because it's too cold outside and the water is too cold. If I tried to flip it and it landed upside down I'd have to go out into the lake to retrieve it. I'll have more fun with it next summer when it's warm enough for me to swim out to it if needed.I should mention that I've found the best way to start the boat is to place it in the water with one hand while still holding onto it. Once the boat lights up, slide the power switch of the remote control to "on" until the red and green led lights on the remote are both solid on. The reason for this is because I've had at least one instance where I placed it in the water and the propellers immediately started turning and the boat took off from me. The remote control was already on but I wasn't pressing any of the controls so I don't know why it did this. After a few seconds, the boat stopped and then everything worked fine. To be on the safe side, I now place it in the water and hold onto it until I know the remote is on and properly paired.The lights are kind of cool in darker settings but are mostly just informative during full daylight, so you know it's on and so it's easier to see which way it's oriented.Overall, it's a ton of fun and I've yet to run out the battery during my 15 minute test runs. It's supposed to have an alarm for both low battery and when the boat is getting out of signal range. I haven't experienced either alarm yet but I don't run it too long or too far (because I'm worried about having to retrieve it.)

I received this boat, expecting a good product. I charged both batteries to full power and put the 3 AAA batteries in teh controller. Put it on my lake and the lights lite up but nothing else. The controller either would not pair with the boat or the motor in the boat is not working. It would not turn the propellers. So back to Amazon it goes. There must be no quality control to these at all. Too bad I could not give it negative stars. Very frustrating for a consumer.

The only thing I would like is a way to control the lights. And for it to be a little faster

The first one we got never really worked, but the replacement was fine. It’s a big hit.

No way that is 15 MPH, or even Kilometers per hour. And Yes, I did have it in high-speed mode.Also, AA batteries (Amazon basics brand) had to be shoved into the remote because they barely fit.
