Depends on what kind of games your into. You choose a character, human or creature, as a human you hunt the creatures with a team. As the creature you get to level up your abilities and gain new ones, as a human you get better weapons & tools the more you go along. Graphics aren't terrible, and it can be fun if your into low story based games with lots of action. Check out some reviews or gameplay videos on Youtube if your still not sure.

Q: Is there a single-player mode of this game for us anti-social loners?

It will be multi-player only. There has not been a single player mode annoucned. Although, if you decide not to play with other players, the other characters in multiplayer will be controlled by bots. It is from the team who made Left 4 Dead, so compare it to that for how it will play without 5 players.

Q: I pre-ordered this several months ago, apparently granting me access to the Big Alpha. Has anyone received a code or know how to join the Big Alpha?

i never got code yet and it the 11th of february 2015 and i pre ordered the game showing i was going to get it and nothing
