Mine is 120V. I believe that large appliances are the only ones that require 220V.

Using it prior to brushing is best.

Q: does bleach cause this to leak

i want to reply to the comment in this thread about using hydrogen peroxide in the unit. I tried it as an experiment and there was absolutely no mold at all, and I have had mine for 15 years. As far as using bleach, some dentists advise to use a drop of bleach in the reservoir of the flosser. It kills bacteria in your mouth and you don't ingest it. It is literally a drop or two. I don't use bleach, but some dentists and hygienists recommend it. I doubt that a drop or 2 of bleach would hurt the machine, but that is something that Dave from Toothy Grins could answer. Hydrofloss has literally saved my mouth. My hygienist also knows that few other flossers compare, and she is always extremely impressed about how healthy my mouth and gums are maintained. I have had mine since 2005 and it is still running, but I am due for a new one and I hope the quality is the same.
