Captivating, wholesome, adventure series!
My kids (9, 11, & 13) all love, love, LOVE this series! It's officially a FAVORITE. After I'd seen it recommended in a few parent groups as being a WHOLESOME adventure/fantasy world about siblings & family in the Land of Aerwiar, but also good vs evil... Wingfeather Saga kept popping up as a recommendation from other moms of kids who are also avid readers.. so initially, we requested Wingfeather Saga to be purchased by our local public library and they happily obliged to add the series to their shelves so we could check it out.My 9 yr old struggled a little with the series independently, but she reads at a slower pace in general and the complexity was sometimes a little hard for her, so we might try to add it as part of our shared bedtime reading so I can help her along. She still really enjoys the series, it's just a little hard for her on her own. So reading-level wise, it's always best to have your child read a page or two and check out the difficulty or read together. Her older sisters (11 & 13) however, zoomed through these on their own- not bc it was necessarily "too easy," but bc they said they were just so engrossed in the plot that they just didn't want to put them down! They've said it's the best & their new favorite series EVER! (They read/test at an upper-high-school level comprehension for reference... and they read A LOT.) They haven't spoken this emphatically about another series, so I'm glad they gave it a chance and love it so much! So after borrowing them and reading through them all twice from the library, they said they definitely wanted it to own; and since purchasing, they've reread them AGAIN several times already and I've started reading the first book myself. The storyline with the three siblings is endearing, captivating, and heartwarming from a parent-perspective and the maps & illustrations are all beautiful. We started watching the TV series on Angel Studios too; it captures the novels really well so far! We highly recommend the Wingfeather novels (& the show) and my kids wished the novels hadn't ended, which is why they still keep rereading them whenever they're in btwn books... and we recently purchased some of the additional books that coincide with the series and the Land of Aerwiar. When the set was on sale again, we purchased another book set to give as a gift to our friends' kids for Christmas bc they are also avid readers.

Read it now! then watch the show adaptation, you will not be disappointed!
There is not a single series out there that we have loved reading to the kids more. We became hooked on the book and then on the series on Angel studios and they didn't disappoint. The show follows the books well, but it also portrays the characters well. When you read the books you get a bit more detail, but if you like to watch a show first or read first, these two were really interchangable. I would re-read the books over and over even as an adult I loved them!Entertaining and a great story for the whole family. Great values and lessons as well.

Wonderful series
I have spent the past year reading this to my 11 and 14 year old sons. Wonderful story of family, perseverance, sacrifice, and hope. Absolutely comes together in an amazing and deep epic story. Thank you to the author for writing such a great series for kids and us adults too.

Worth it! Great quality reading and material.
Received in excellent condition. Heavy duty construction. Great set of books for our 9 year old who is venturing into more than basic “chapter books.”

Earns its place in the genre
I have enjoyed Andrew Peterson's music for years. In my opinion he is a top-notch singer/songwriter in the Christian music category. He is a storyteller at heart. I bought this for my daughter's family to read together as they loved to read the Narnia Chronicles together. I read the whole series myself to make sure that it was appropriate for their ages and to see what the series was like. Besides, I've always enjoyed reading in this genre when my children were young. Anyway, I found it imaginative, exciting, and had good themes which provide good fodder for discussion (friendship, loyalty, good, evil, etc.). It is intense and there is a relentless stream of danger and battles which may be too much for young children. I think you have to know your child to make this call. In the end it has all the elements that I expected from Peterson and I feel it worth the investment of time and emotion to read through the entire series. I also like that the Christian themes regarding God and the history of humankind are woven into the story in ways that feel natural to the story and not forced upon it. Nice job, Andrew Peterson!
