Love My Robot!!
I received this on Feb 1. There was a couple days delay in setting it up. I had three litter boxes previously as I had 2 cats and the recommendation is a litter box for each cat plus on extra. However my cats mostly used the two which are located in the master bath. I got rid of two litter boxes right away, so there was one box and the litter robot. I didn't have the robot powered up at first. I would check, turn it on and do the clean to get them use to the sound and movement. My younger one, Gracie, investigated it right off and started to use it after a couple of days, but not every time. My other, Shadow, was harder. I believe she used it a couple of times, but not sure. I used treats and catnip to entice. I scooped the old box the first few days, but then I quit as per the instructions, because Shadow kept going to it. It got disgusting, so I finally removed it and watched her closely. There were always treats. When the other one was gone, she finally used the robot without a problem. It took about 2 or 2 1/2 weeks overall to get them using the robot. Now to me. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE IT!! I am almost 70 and cleaning and lugging litter boxes with litter in them around was getting to be too much. Now I do a clean cycle, lift out the bag, wash it out, replace bag and litter (which are kept nearby) and I am done. Not overly impressed with the app. It gives me data on the level of litter and how full the bin is, which is good, but other than that it doesn't do much else for me. It tells you when a cat is in there and when it cleans, but that's no big deal to me. I've found it is screwy on the weight of the cats. If it gives me my money's worth in the future, then I am a happy camper!

Best cat box ever
This is a definite keeper! It’s a little pricey, but it’s big enough for my Maine coon, and it’s very easy to set up, clean and replace filters/deodrrizer. My cats love this and there is no smell from the litter. Best thing I’ve bought in a long while!

A great labor saver if you have multiple cats. Your Mileage May Vary on Reliability
I vacillated between giving this product 3 or 4 stars. On one hand, it significantly reduces the labor, mess and odor associated with having multiple cats. On the other hand, it is rather costly and the reliability of the first one we purchased directly from the factory was disappointing. In the simplest possible terms, the Litter Robot consists of a whole lot of plastic, a miniature electric motor-gearbox assembly, and enough electronics to cover a largish postage stamp. There's also a couple of optical sensors. After 18 months, our first Litter Robot stopped working and displayed an error code corresponding to "Motor Over torque". We contacted customer support and were pleasantly surprised to be immediately connected with a technician who skillfully walked us through an elaborate diagnostic process. The verdict was that our motor-gearbox assembly had failed. The technician told us that while our unit was out of warranty, they would ship us a replacement unit at no cost. (At this point, the cynic in me pondered the possibility that there was a design problem with the M-G assembly that was causing lots of premature failure. Hopefully, this has been corrected in the unit we just received from Amazon.)The motor-gearbox assembly arrived 4 days later along with a set of excellent instructions on replacement. It took my wife and I about 45 minutes to do the job using only a screw driver and working very slowly. It was an easy task for us, but might be more daunting for someone who isn't mechanically inclined. On a whim, I disassembled the old (failed) motor-gearbox assembly, and found that the quality of the gearbox was on a par with what you might find in a toddler's toy car. The gearbox case was cast out of pot metal and several of the gear shafts used a blind hole in the case as a a bearing support. I suspect that wear led to binding which caused the motor-over-torque failure to occur. So far, I haven't had the courage to open our new Litter Robot and examine the gear box to see if it's been upgraded.Addendum - I've been reading comments from other users and it appears that a number of buyers have experienced problems and simply given up on the product. Many, if not most of these problems can be solved by using the correct kitty litter. Per the instructions that come with the Litter Robot, you MUST use clumping clay litter - pine, corncob and crystalline litter will NOT work. For problems related to mechanical functionality (e.g. drum rotation), call customer service. The technical support team is well staffed, well trained, and very patient. Their sole reason for existence is to solve the problems you are experiencing. Give them a try before you cart an $800 product to the dump.

Expensive piece of useless plastic!
I was very excited to receive this. Few reasons I bought this. Foremost is that a new kitty found and adopted me. With work becoming more busy I was exhausted by the time I got home at night. Shopping a few litter boxes morning and night was very time consuming. Second reason was the new kitty was having intestinal issues the vet and I were trying to work through. One small bowel movement could stink up the whole house in no time. Coming home to that was even worse. Last reason was because I was getting ready to go on a trip. I didn't want whoever checked on them be forced to poop scoop a lot.I also bought the expensive steps that went with it.Well that was well and good for a couple weeks. After that the thing started to malfunction more and more.First worry was how it scooped. The scoops fall into a bin right in the middle/under the box. This was worrisome due to a possibility one of the cats would get stuck. It literally is open at that point.Next the box wouldn't scoope/cycle. I would come home to the drum being full. Sometimes I would come home to the drum being mid cycle and stop where the bin is open. Stink galore.I would have to physically push the button to cycle. Sometimes even with that it would stop. I would have to reset and cycle again. I tried using the phone app to do it. Nope wouldn't work.So many issues!. Now just days away from my trip and it is too late to do something.Stuck with an expensive piece of plastic and the loss of a kitty litter box.UPDATE!! 12/25. Still have to physically push the button for it to cycle. Even when it says there is nothing obstructing the area and is rdy.
