Great little nas as an inexpensive price
Does a great job, can be a little tricky to figure everything out at first.Wireless transfer are fairly slow, but usb 3.0 transfers are lightning fast.

A Nice, Low Cost NAS...
I got this to replace/augment an aging ReadyNAS Pro 2. Installed two 3 TB drives with no major issues and was up and running. My only negative comment is that the setup and configuration software seems overly complex, confusing, and like many modern computer "stuff" obsessed with "security!".It has some silly auto-snapshot capability that seems senseless to me--coming from an era of daily, then stored off-site, backups; "backing up" data on the same devices it's stored on does nothing but bring a false sense of security.Initially it wanted to reserve 20% of the total space for this idiocy, however after some online research I was able to disable it and reclaim that space. It is well-documented by QNAP, which is good as the browser-based configuration management is disjointed and confusing. The 2.5 Gb Ethernet port works well--Gigabit is kind of sluggish in this modern world...

QNAP TS-216G-US
This NAS is pretty much as advertised, but the build construction and feel is rather flimsy (seems to be mostly plastic) compared to usual QNAP build quality. The power supply is a brick rated at 12V/4A.I downloaded the latest QTS 5.x OS and installed it offline to 2.5" SSDs. The TS-216G tries to contact the internet by default to download various programs. In purely SMB mode without any of the performance robbing media processing or other nonsense, the speed is just adequate to saturate the 2.5GbE link when transferring large files. The ARM Cortex-A55 easily reaches 90+% utilization so don't expect very high IOPs with small files. In case it is not clear enough in the specs there is one Realtek 2.5GbE port and one 1GbE port from the Cortex-A55. I suppose an SoC with dual 2.5GBe would be better, but the 1+2.5GbE is what you get.

Do not buy. Save your money.
Per Qnap Support .Problem>TS 216G will lag when streaming music while running QuMagie due to low CPU power.Actions> When playing music and then switching tracks, songs take at least 20 seconds to load again.> With QuMagie loaded, scrolling through it while playing music causes the music to skip.> Considering upgrading to a Qnap TS-262.Or get Synology DS224+ if you want a user friendly NAS that works.

A breeze to replace my old QNAP NAS
This two bay NAS was a breeze to install. It was mostly a plug and play. All my files were available in no time with no issues.

Just OK. Terrible for big file transfers
This worked OK when I loaded data to it initially. Now that my workflow has changed, the transfer speeds are holding me back. Read speeds will start high, then as I watch the CPU usage shoot up, speeds throttle back. I go between several hundred MB/s down to single digit KB/s. I'm now working to migrate data off this device onto a DIY file server for equivalent cost. This just wasn't worth it.The web interface is feature-rich but I honestly wonder if this device would be able to handle anything beyond the NAS service and Plex hosting I used it for.On the upside, it typically worked well for local network access on Plex.

DO NOT BUY
QNAP has seriously dropped the ball with this NAS. Been trying for months to get this operational and to no avail. QNAP support is MIA so I am left with a $230 doorstop. Don't repeat my mistake go check out Synology or anything besides this.
