Not what you'd expect
UPDATE 01/11/2025Customer service was extremely helpful in answering my questions regarding Miko use/prompts. Really, it comes down to reading the documentation, which I've referenced in my initial review, and properly understanding the product's functions. It's not fully AI enabled, interacting with an LLM etc. but after further consideration, not sure if want my kids interacting with AI to that capacity. Watching the kids have dance parties and listen to stories, enjoying themselves, is all I can ask for and this product delivers. The minor issue with the app content not being accessed on the miko mini screen, actually males sense... there's quite a lot of activities in the Miko app that work much on a tablet. Overall, after having time to reflect I, and my kids, are quite happy with this little robot.REVIEW UPDATE 01/02/2025I've been in contact with the Miko team, expressed my initial impressions with the device and the integration with the app. To sum it up, they've been extremely helpful. I've been quite impressed with the customer service. The support they've provided is based on how to best interact with the product, how to understand it's features, and how to approach this in a way that it benefits my child. I've updated the review to 3/5 stars based on this support/outcome. I'll be updating this review in a couple of weeks to update on how our interaction with the product/app has been.PREVIOUS REVIEW:_______________________________Get your child an Alexa, they'll be way better off.Functionality is very limited, they have a set of prompts or actions that the miko will recognize - if is manages to pick up on what your kids says. Those prompts are online, search for miko mini documentation. You'll see how limited the actions are. They sell you on chatGPT like features, not the case. You'll be limited to a few animal, planet etc. trivia games and limited iheart radio songs., a music party game.. again, you can get that and more from an Alexa. Kids had fun seeing the miko move around but when they couldn't get it to interact the way an echo can.. they lost interest. Now what bothers me even more... they sell Miko Max which you imagine would be a service integrated into the Miko robot.. not the case, it's completely tablet based. So what's the purpose of getting that service? You'd imagine kids would be able to view the Disney story books etc. on the miko screen, nope. To take it one step further, if you return the miko, which I did, I can't keep the Miko max app on my kids table!! I was stupid enough to buy the year subscription, what a loss. Again, makes no sense why they wouldn't allow you to maintain the Miko Max service on your tablet IF it's not even integrated with the miko itself!Frankly, this product left a lot to be desired. Poor software integrations and functionality. Perhaps Amazon will get smart and release a kid friendly ai assistant on their devices. A miko voice will replacement for Alexa will be more than enough 😂😂Keep miko away from your kids. Mine is getting shipped back.

Fun and educational, but needs improvements
Update: I’m updating my review to 5 stars thanks to Miko’s great customer service—they followed up multiple times to address my concerns. Most importantly, my daughter loves this robot! She’s excited to talk to Miko daily, play math and memory games, explore animal facts, and create books. She also enjoys the science apps. It’s a much better alternative to passive screen time.Original review:Miko is a great interactive toy for my 6-year-old daughter. She spends about an hour a day talking to it, and she enjoys the games, especially the book-writing activity. Miko also has other games that help stimulate her thinking, which is a plus. However, there are a few downsides. The battery only lasts about two hours, so it needs to be charged daily. You also have to remember to turn it off when not in use. I reached out to customer support about this, and they were very helpful in explaining the battery life—great customer service overall.Another drawback is the limited number of apps, despite the $99 per year subscription. Additionally, Miko struggles with music recognition; it never plays the song that we requested. I’m still waiting for their team to get back to me on this issue.Regarding movement, Miko doesn’t run around like in the promotional videos. It moves briefly and only when given specific commands like “move forward” or “turn around,” but it won’t follow you around.Lastly, Miko Mini is only available in English. It would be great if it supported multiple languages. In our home, we speak both English and Portuguese, so having a Portuguese option would make it even more useful. There’s definitely room for improvement, and I wonder if Miko 3 might be a better option.

Fun little companion
Miko Mini is a cool little companion for kids! I do honestly feel like it’s more age appropriate for younger kids, not pre teens or teens. My son is 8 and he LOVES IT!- my 5 year old daughters wants one now. We honestly had some software issues when it first arrived, but after some trouble shooting and customer service back and forth it seems to be working smoother. It seems very durable. The sound is great on it as well. It’s pretty funny, has some jokes and funny songs available too. Sometimes that emotions seems a little more negative andI do think it would be less fun without the MAX subscription. So I will say those are the only things that I’m not a huge fan of so far. You have to pay monthly or yearly for it.

Fun and educational companion. Perfect for an only child!
My son loves this robot! I myself was quite fascinated at all the things it can do. Our favorite part is that it dances with you. I also love that it does story time with him before bed and the alarm wakes him up in the morning. This is much better than an iPad it’s like an educational companion that plays with you while teaching you all the time.
