The driver software included on the device didn't work (I'm using Windows 8.1, not wishing to "upgrade" to a load of spyware that tells Microsoft what I do all day). Nor did other, older drivers. Eventually I went through a load of "driver fixer" programs, most of which were hell to get rid of and also installed a ton of stuff I didn't want, without asking me.Eventually I found "Snappy Driver Fixer", which is open-source, pest-free, and free of charge. That got this Wifi dongle to work... half of the time. I boot up, then need to "restart", every time. Then it works.In the end I replaced it with a length of Ethernet cable and used a wired connection instead. Blissfully simple, no drivers at all, no anything!But this dongle... it works, but not properly, not easily. Perhaps on Windows 10 or 11 it's better. But it's a pest regardless, so many Wifi dongles are. I'd recommend a wired connection if possible. But otherwise, don't buy this one. But if you do, use Snappy Driver Fixer, genuinely free, I'm not being paid to say that! Ignore online reviews of driver fixer software, it's those that sent me to all the other garbage I tried!

Nice product good working

Received on time. No packaging or instructions, it came in just a plastic bag. Minus 1 star because I can't tell if it is brand new.Plugged it into my pc but it took a while to get recognised and install. Probably due to the age of my pc but it was pretty straightforward. No need for a disk drive as the software is on the dongle.Once installed, connecting to the network is the same as you normally would with built in WiFi on a laptop.Speed of the internet connection is good. Sorry, I don't bother measuring speeds, it's good enough for watching streaming videos and that's all that matters to me.FYI, it's installed in my pc in an upstairs bedroom. The router is downstairs in the living room and the WiFi signal is 4 bars, 5 bars is max.Overall, it's value for money if you need to add WiFi to an older pc.

Tried it on 3 devices across different areas of my house (Have a good Mesh system that allows my laptop to connect at 1.7gbps and my Ally at 2.3gbps, but this no matter what I did would not connect at more than 80mbps on any device in any USB port and actual throughput was at most 80% of that connection speed. Not good when you have 500mbps internet and work from home.I only bought it as a stop gap (moved a desktop to an area without a network port and was waiting on a chance to rearrange my Mesh to allow me to connect my desktop to the ethernet port on my AP) and I ended up temporarily running a patch cable 15 metres from the old location to the new.
