Kala MK-SD/PL Makala Dolphin Bridge Soprano Ukulele - Purple

I bought this ukulele about 4 months ago, and I ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT. Despite the low cost, its very good quality and sounds great. Tuning holds perfectly, I don't have to re-tune it often. Cute colors are fun and its simple design is perfect for beginners. Fun to show off in front of friends and easy to learn!Only thing I would have to say I didn't like was the gig bag that comes with it. It is super lightweight, and tears very easily. Overall though, its a great buy and worth your money!

I can't say enough about this ukulele! I'm not writing this review from the perspective of someone who plays. I dabble. I purchased this uke for my 3 year old daughter. Between me and her Dad we have a plethora of instruments in the house and he just had to have a ukele....and so did she! I purchased one from another retailer and was sorely disappointed in the quality. I did not want to buy my child a toy. I wanted something real that she could grow to respect, love and perhaps someday seriously play.After reading the reviews on Makala and seeing the pictures I figured I'd give this one a go. It is a lovely little thing and I'm impressed with the quality and the sound. The craftsmanship is outstanding and were she ever to seriously want to learn to play I think this would be excellent for her. Right now she "plays" in the sense of strumming with no real technique, lol! But this can easily morph into something that she plays with skill! Hope she cares for it well. Would love to see it passed down to her own child someday.

Decent little instrument. I got this for my daughter so that she would have an instrument I could let her do anything with and not worry too much. The sound is not as nice as my Kala KA-S, but it's ok. I will try changing the strings - she doesn't care about the sound but when she's not looking, I sometimes play it. :)She did ding it in a doorway and some paint came off. (It's not purple plastic, it's plastic painted purple.)I was surprised at how heavy it was - significantly heavier than my Kala.

The ukulele is everything it was advertised to be. It is well made and with the curved back it has a nice mellow tone for its size. It came tuned and it stays in tune! The carrying bag is minimal, but the box is sturdy and will do the job for transporting it. I bought the purple which is a super color and very attractive. The dolphin bridge is eye-catching. I feel it is an excellent value for the price. Also, shipping was prompt and it came undamaged. I like it so much that I may buy another one.

The intonation on this instrument is quite simply unacceptable.Why it's gotten so many rave reviews has me scratching my head..I realize it's quite inexpensive and you get what you pay for but the bottom line is that it's a toy.An an un-tunable one at that.Sent mine back immediately.

I had to get one of these based on the positive reviews and recommendations. It arrived wearing Aquila strings, it held a tune pretty well, straight out of the box. It seems very sturdy. Unfortunately I really didn't care for its tone. Sounded rather like a tin can to me. I sold it shortly after its arrival.

I honestly expected a lower quality product for the $40 price range, but I was absolutely wrong! Excellent manufacturing from the quality purple finish to the tone quality. Generally, you can judge the over-all quality of any string instrument by how long it stays in tune, and this Uke kept in tune for a long time at first use. Add to that the free pitch pipe (limited promo at purchase) and the included gig bag and I'd have to say this was one of the best quality bargains I've gotten in a long time.

People recommended buying this ukulele with the Aquila strings AQU-AQ-S (to replace with the original strings) so I bought both and I never regretted! The original strings were kinda crappy, but with the new aquila strings, this is a perfect ukulele for me! I love the sounds, the color (I got the light purple one), the dolphin bridge, the tuning knobs (cause it's easy to use and it stays in tune for long enough that you won't get bothered) Strongly recommend!
