Buying these in bulk was a great savings over soiless mix and peat pots
Buying these in bulk was a great savings over soiless mix and peat pots. The performance in root growth was excellent with tender annuals and tough perennials. When the weather this spring got erratic, there was plenty of cushion to allow a delayed planting without inhibiting plant growth. Also, a tip: if you have two pencil thick tomatoes growing in one pellethere's how to keep your growth: cut the stronger one off, clear the bottom four inches of leaves, poke a deep pencil hole into a saturated pellet, push the transplant into the hole and squeeze it tight onto the stem. It will look sickly for 3-4 days, but within a week you will have a vital plant with solid root growth out the sides...... I'm one who has even made his own soiless mix and will continue it for some things, but this will be quite economical with out a loss in performance.

High quality
Love these, they stay solid when hydrated and are great for making air layers on trees. These are a great product.

good product
my pumpkin seeds germinated just fine in this soil mix. the only problem I encountered is some of them got hung up on the small overlap on the top of the pellet.

My go-to seed starters
I’ve been buying/using these pellets for many years. The ease of use, lack of mess (yes, I’ve tried soil-blocking), & simplicity of transition into the garden keeps me a loyal user. BTW, for anyone saying the pellets aren’t absorbing water quickly; here’s the trick: just use very hot water! My ONLY negative remark is that I wish the netting was biodegradable.

pellets took way to long to absorb water . the same pellets i bought in a jiffy kit took only about 5 minutes to swell up to size. these pellets took up to 1 hour and some still had to be squeezed to break the compressed material so it would complete absorption after 1 hour. plants do grow well in the larger size pellet.

Good product - I prefer coco coir pellets though
Good product - I prefer coco coir pellets though. This was an experiment and no reflection on the product itself but I find the peat too dense for the seed planting I do.

Great for early gardens
These are so nice for starting my veggie garden. Helps me get a jump start with my grow light & heating mat. By the time they outgrow the pellets it’s time to plant them in the garden!!

These pellets expand to 5-6 inches tall
These work great for sprouting seeds. Note, though, that they expand to 5-6 inches tall. I bought them to use in a Jiffy seed starter tray. The 50-mm pellets that came with the original tray only expanded to about 2 inches tall. Using these pellets in my Jiffy tray is tricky because they can sag over to the side if I don't pack them in tight to support each other.
