This Nut Cracker is a high quality tool
I bought this to remove a trailer hitch that had been on a Cherokee for 20 years.Of 8 high strength 3/8 diameter bolts I could access 4 with an impact and break them off. I didn't want to grind with a buckeye so near the gas tank so I ordered this tool.It worked great on 3 of the remaining bolts, but I could not access the last bolt with it. If it came in right-hand and left-hand models, opposite hands, I would have bought a second one. I HOPE YOU ARE HEARING THIS KD, because I think KD is missing a lot of sales. For the last bolt I ordered a nut splitter of far lesser quality. This got it done, but the chisel blade was almost used up in a single use (it may have one more use left in it). Money would be better spent on an opposite hand KD.The KD has a lot of life left in it, is barely discolored, and the chisel blade is replaceable. It is a hassle reducer of the first order, and I don't know how I lived without it.

Pure Junk - Don't Bother
Complete trash! It self destructed on the first use... never got one bolt off. The drive screw is at an angle, and when you put pressure on the drive screw it breaks through the side of the casing. I was using it for a standard hardness bolt that was painted over. The cracker broke before getting the first bolt removed. A complete waste of money. It is too much trouble, and too heavy, to send it back. I'll just eat the cost and consider it an educational experience. Don't waste your money on this piece of junk.

It worked great, once
It worked great, once... I used this to crack the upper strut nut on my car to replace the struts and it worked on the first one like a champ. On the second one it nearly got through, but then the ball bearings inside the shaft failed. They're easy enough to replace as you just unscrew the end, but apparently KD Tools doesn't service this product anymore so you'll have to find replacement bearings elsewhere if yours fail, too.

It Seemed Like an Impossible Task
I hate to admit this, I literally spent a week tring to remove a nut off of a tie rod end. I went in to NAPA asking about a "Nut Splitter", the counter guy didn't even know they sold them, he had to look it up. With the Covid 19 in full bloom he said 2 weeks, I said no thanks. So I ordered this from Amazon, It arrived much sooner. Mind you I was pretty skeptical this would work because my bolt was at the maximum diameter (3/4") for the spec. of the tool description. I cranked on it what seemed like forever, I put on a face shield because of the high tork pressure. I told my Grandchildren "Get out of here" because they were lurking around. It looked like the tool was bending or breaking however, POP it actually worked. I also thought the tool was ruined but it was not. This was the first time I had to use a "Nut Splitter" in 40 years, unbelievable!!

When you are making a tool to sell you have to use "tool" steel".
Junk. Complete junk. The first time I used it. I heard crack halfway thru trying to break the nut. This so called nutcracker broke apart and fell into my face. Made out of the cheap cast steal that you make a kids toy out of.

Good Tool, Priced Right..
Men,This little puppy will crack your nuts! I used it to crack the nut in half in a New York Minute on one of my lower ball joints. I spent hours trying to saw the other side off, before buying this tool.It was much cheaper than the auto parts stores in my area (Fort Myers). Many did not have it and wanted to order it. No Thanks... Pay 25% more and wait a week? Cheaper on Amazon with no sales tax and free shipping that arrived in three days. I'm a happy camper.Rascal

Don't waste your money
Didn't make it through a single nut. Cutting edge not nearly hardened enough IMO.Follow-up - I found my old "KD" nutcracker - looks exactly like this one. The old "KD" cut through the same nuts, (Grade 8) with no damage to the cutting edge. The "gear wrench" version didn't make it through a single nut, and the cutting edge was destroyed. Buyer beware.

useful tool
Well made and functional. It can be difficult to use in a constrained space though. It makes quick work of a removal.
