This looks to be an excellent whetstone. My question is it too small to do sharpen my garden loppers and Clippers?

I purchased this specifically because it is small and can go in my GO bag. I have several and I am very pleased with how they work. While it could work for you, it isn’t practical to use on Heavy garden tools. You might look at the SHARPAL 105N Multipurpose Pocket Pruners Loppers Hedge Shears Knife Sharpener Sharpening Garden Tool. It is portable and safer to use and I know some landscaping people who use it on the job. It’s durable and does a nice job with coarser and finer sides.

Does this do a good job sharpening scissors?

I’ve used this to sharpen mostly knives but have sharpen a couple of scissors, and I’m very pleased in the results. There are though specific sharpeners for only scissors because most scissors need a bit more skill to sharpen well.

has anyone tried grinding these to use as precision machinist stones?

I haven't ground mine flat but I have used mine to knock the sharp edge off some finished pieces and tune some locating pins, but if you are looking to polish or flatten a surface these may not be the best option due to their size. Unless you are working on very small parts the stones are just too small at 1"x2" to give proper results.

I have high hopes since people are saying it's small? Do you think this will work well for sharping a small widdling curved blade?

I use this frequently for my small blades to touch them up when doing very detailed wood work. I’m very pleased with this stone. The small size makes it portable and handy.
