A great book for beginners
If like me you have read multiple books on astronomy but were still left wondering where to actually start observing then this is the book for you. This is a very simple, well illustrated, non-technical book aimed at novice stargazers and would be ideal for anyone over ages 10+. It is helpfully broken down into the best stargazing targets by each season, the planets, and those sights which are above the horizon all year round.

A wealth of content in easy to digest pieces
I can recognise the big dipper and Orion's belt but that's about it. Wanting to have something to talk to with my son when we're at our holiday home where the tars are bright, I bought this guide. What I loved was that it not only showed you the constellations (and planets and nebulae) but also why they were called that (pictures of the bear and explanations of Greek mythology) and, most illuminattingly, how once you found one you can find the other! This is a thoroughly accessible book for anyone though younger children will need guidance as there is quite a it of (interesting) text. It has difficulty ratings to motive kids to improve their skills. And as a bonus explains telescope parts.I would give this a 4 star on my Kindle as it's black and wide, but if you have an iPad or the paperback it would be in colour so just that little bit more exciting.
