Chants of India

This is great music to relax to, to mediate to, and to get centered to. The musicianship, emblematic of the World music genre, is exquisite. And the lyrics espouse uplifting thoughts of, among other things, love, harmony, and peace. Although I’m a lifelong fan of Ravi Shankar and especially George Harrison, I only recently discovered this CD. I’m so glad I did. Om!

So happy to find this collaboration of spiritual, human music production by George Harrison and his great friend, Ravi Shankar. Actions speak louder then words when it comes to human compassion and global character.

Great product. Rare collection where George Harrison and Ravi Shankar put this together in their prime working years. It is getting hard to find this CD. They need to start making more of these - I have bought quite a few every year to give it as gifts.

Wonderful just what I needed for my collection and listening enjoyment. Everyone needs this cd. Love it, puts me in a good mood.

CHANTS OF INDIA is one of several traditionalist Indian recordings produced by George Harrison and featuring sitar virtuoso Ravi Shankar. This featured CD is also features a male and female duet and together they vocalize all the mystery and spiritual connection associated with the Hindu faith.My mantra music collection is quite extensive, but this is one of the few I listen to over & over again.HIGHLY recommended.[NOTE 12/26/08: I see this wonderful collection of mantra has been discontinued & that's a real shame. At the risk of being repetitious, I want to reiterate the fact that even if a CD has been discontinued, you may still be able to purchase it from a private vendor list on the details page. I haven't been burned once going that route--good product, good price & arriving on time. Look ro a vendor with a 96-100% satisfaction rating. When they say "excellent condition, just like new" it usually is & may still be in original plastic seal. Una gran grabación, muy cuidada para los amantes de la música tradicional india y los cantos de meditación. Muy recomendable y difícil de encontrar

ラヴィ・シャンカールのアルバムを初めて購入して聴きました。プロデューサーがジョージ・ハリスンということも関係しているのかもしれませんが、インド音楽を初めて聴く人にとっても比較的聴きやすい内容となっているかと思われます。自分の場合、元々インド音楽(マントラ・チャンティング、キールタンetc...)が好きなので本作は一度聴いて虜になりました。今後何度も聴き続けるであろう傑作だと思いました。

今は、このCD 作られてないみたい・・　私は、お値段　お安い時に、買ったので、復刻版が、でると、いいですね　鶴田真由さんが、聞かれてて、一緒に歌ってるとヨガの本で、紹介されてました。心が、落ち着く感じが、わかります。

インドの古代よりの神々への賛歌は我々日本人の持つ自然への想いや古典芸能の起源のひとつを強く感じることでしょう。同時に全く日本ではないインドを聞くことができその両極性の間に心が漂い何をか想うあるいは無に帰すことでしょう。ただひとつ残念なのはラビシャンカール自身によるシタールの演奏がないことです。星４つです。

とてもいいです。心が浄化されたような気がして落ち着きます。
