Based on real images of the Moon, this beautiful, laminated map unfolds to a full 11 x 17 inches. The detail and careful labeling makes it a cinch to discover lunar features, whether you're observing with your telescope, binoculars, or naked-eye. Review: not cheap but a sturdy product that has held up to regular use for a year now - This was kinda expensive for what it is but I have used mine regularly for a year and it has held up great. I now would have to say I do highly recommend it. If you enjoy stargazing, this is a handy guide. Oh just a quick tip.. if you have a scope, try watching the sea of tranquility... there is more there than you might have thought! Review: A very practical Moon map - At just the right size for convenient use and legibility this map is very handy in actual use at the telescope. I have used this map with telescopes ranging from 3 1/2-inch Maksutovs to 10-inch refractors and even people unfamiliar with the moon or the use of the telescope will soon be comfortable with it. If you couple it with the Field Map of the Moon (much larger and more cumbersome but more detailed) you will have all you need to explore the moon. It just works well!

Good but incomplete map
I purchased this map for use with the Astronomical League Moon Observation program. The only issue I've had is that the nomenclature A.L. used is sometimes different from that used on this map. Makes some objects hard to find and requires further research, usually on my I Pad. Still, the map is a great help and a good value. I just was not aware that an object could have two different names. On a map, it would help if both names were displayed.

Excellent Moon Map
I really like this map. I'm new to astronomy and I like the numerical and alphabetical indexes. Also I like how the Apollo landing sites are easy to spot because they are labeled with a different color. It gives enough information without being overwhelming.

Very convenient
The map is very good, although I would prefer that it be upside down to show what I see in my reflector. I have the other mirror image version for my refractor. The map is small so I can't complain that there are numbers instead of feature names. For the names superimposed on the objects I go to the larger maps by Sky and Telescope. Both sizes are essential for lunar observing.

What You Get
The product description is somewhat insufficient, so let's be clear what you get. It is an 11 x 11.5 inch bifold laminated picture of the moon with major albedo features ("oceans/seas") indicated with black text. Two hundred and eighty other features are marked with yellow numbers, and the Apollo landing sites are marked with orange alphanumeric keys. You need to reference the Numerical Index to figure out what feature you are looking at. I'm sure this must be good for serious telescopic observing, but it wasn't what I expected, so on the basis of insufficient product description I gave it three stars. This chart would be very useful to a serious observer, less so for people who are trying to familiarize themselves with lunar topography.

great telescope companion
It identifies all of the lunar features you are observing thru a telescope.

Simple map but priced fairly.
This product is relatively simple. It is a plastic laminated paper map with a single center fold. One side of the card has a photo of the full moon and a numerical list of features, listed from top to bottom. The other side has an alphabetic listing of the same features. It doesn't have lots of detail, but it is a good starter map for the moon that can be used at the eyepiece. I think the map is a fairly priced product, if you order enough items to get free shipping.

Excellent Resource for Moon Observation
I gave this map to my husband as a birthday gift, and he's very enthusiastic about it. The lamination makes it perfect to use in the field, to protect it from the dew. Not large, but he says it's perfect – larger would be unwieldy. The numbers are large enough to read easily, but are small and placed to avoid covering details. Very sharp and better detail than a lot of the other resources he uses in conjunction with it. Includes a good number of identifiable craters smaller than 50 km! The alphabetical list is very useful, and there are none of the spelling mistakes found in other resources. It has also been good to use at home to learn the craters and test himself. He uses it with a 27-60X birding scope with an 85 mm objective.

A really helpful Map of the Moon.
A really helpful Map of the Moon. Being laminated is great for keeping the moisture off, but a bit of a problem when trying to look at the map by the light of a red torch, glare reflects off the laminate and can make the map unreadable until your eyes become dark adapted again (up to 20 minutes).

An excellent map.
An excellent map. Laminated and very detailed. Perfect for behind the telescope or a pair of binos. 10/10.

Great little map of the moon
I like this map, does not contain the name ALL the craters, some interesting ones are missing, but there are so many. With this map I have almost 300 craters to remember. Great little map, I like it very much actually, I can use it outside with the humidity or at -15 celcius.

Should be cheaper
It has all the feature you want to see (around 300 of them). I think the price is a bit more than it should be. Other wise I would give 5 starts
