This is my first time making kombucha and it turned out great.

Gets the job done
This seems to keep the kombucha at an acceptable temperature, although I think being able to select what one believes to be the perfect temperature would be great. I wish this had variable temperature control, not only to select what I think is perfect but to also maintain a narrow temperature range. From what I can see, it keeps the liquid about 15 degrees warmer than the ambient temperature. I would love to keep mine within a few degrees, but because of this, it has a range of about nine degrees, because my home ranges that much. Again, it gets the job done so I have no complaints, but it would be nice to control it myself. Definitely worth the money and not worth returning to get one with control. Highly recommended if you want to set it and forget it, which certainly does have its appeal! I metered it and at sixteen cents a kilowatt hour, it costs about two cents a day to run. Also, the cord is quite long at right about six feet, which is nice.

No frills, it just works!
Great heat mat and as added bonus a thermometer strip. Fits almost around my 2 gallon jar. But that's ok, since no I can put the thermometer strip in between. I don't want to warm up my kombucha too much, since I can't drink it that fast :-). So I have it connected to a smart plug, where I keep it on longer at night (when we don't have the heat on) and shorter during the day (2 hours and 1 hour off at night, and 1 hour on and 2 hours off during the day). Energy consumption is low, 7.11 Watts at the moment. Also nice touch is the rubber band to keep it secured around the jar.

The mat saved my kombucha
My kombucha got moldy because it was too cold so I got this heating mat. It works great! The kombucha mother is very happy and growing. The brew ferments in about 10 days now instead of 4 weeks and there is not trace of mold. I put the thermometer on the jar, but either I can't read it, or it doesn't really show what the temperature is. The jar feels warm to the touch, however. A better thermometer would be my only recommendation for improvement, but you don't really need one.

How did I brew without this?
What used to take me up to 2 1/2 weeks of fermentation time now happens within a week. This heating wrap is full proof and with every batch, my SCOBY and sweet tea form a new SCOBY at the top. A must have item to stabilize your brewing!

Great addition..
This heating mat was a great addition to making my kombucha. I was not able to keep the temperature consistent so with this mat, I am sure that I keep the kombucha in the right temperature range so it can do its fermenting.

Works, but def could be better
I keep my house air conditioned during the summer and it can be pretty frigid over the northeast winters. Having just begun my kombucha journey, I quickly found that I needed a way to heat up my brew past the 72 degrees in my home. This looked like a good solution. After firing it up, I found that I t did raise my brew up to about 80, although I was hoping for closer to the mid 80’s.The biggest gripe that I have is that it won’t stay in place around the middle of the jar and just slides down to the bottom. The weight is too much for the oversized rubber band to put enough pressure on it to hold it in place. Double looping it might work, but it’s a real pain to do. Simply changing to a smaller rubber band and perhaps a more grippy interior surface that wouldn’t slide on smooth glass would solve this problem. I can’t help but feel that the heating efficiency would be better if I could keep it around the middle rather than the bottom of the jar.Speaking of efficiency, I was curious how much power it used, so I hooked up my p3 kill a watt and found that it uses 7w, which is great, in my opinion. If this heated up more, stayed in place, and was a tad less expensive, it would be a 5 star product, but as it is, I give it 3.

Great product!
This is my first time brewing a batch of kombucha. My friend, who is an avid brewer and has helped me with getting started cannot believe how well this heating belt is working! She is going to buy one for herself. My scoby is doing really well and the heating belt has kept it at a consistent temperature for the duration of my brew. I will be transferring my kombucha to individual jars tonight. I highly recommend this product.

It worked!
We keep our house fairly cool, so our kombucha needed help to keep warm. This belt did the trick. I like that it comes with a temperature strip. The belt alone didn't bring the temperature up, so I wrapped a towel around the container. It was a little too warm, so I opened up the towel a bit and that kept the temperature right wheŕe I wanted.

Good fermentation outcome. Safe to use.
Made our brewing quicker and more consistent. Used on 2 and 3 litre jars. Wraps around easily. Plenty of cable length which is safely in a fixed connection to the device.Produced good outcome in 8 or 9 days. Bought 1 to try and another after successful use.

Temp is off, but great for price!
If you're off by a few degrees on your kombucha, this will help you get well within range of proper kombucha brewing. It doesn't heat up nearly as much as you'd hope, but it does raise the temp. by around 4-5 degrees fahrenheit when it's wrapped fully around the vessel. Granted, I'm also in a cold area, which may be the reason it's struggling a little.Still fully recommend - get your booches going faster!
