PETZL GRIGRI Belay Device - Belay Device with Cam-Assisted Blocking for Sport, Trad, and Top-Rope Climbing

The Petzl GriGri is the most tried and true climbing belay device on the modern market. It's usable in most forms of climbing and makes it very easy even for beginners to learn good belay technique. Its widespread adoption speaks to its proven performance in real-world situations. The cam lock is smooth and grabs every time you need it to, but slides freely when you need to feed slack. The brake release lever is solid and very responsive, obviously important. The build quality is to a very high standard and my first one lasted me a very long time before I retired it just to be safe. (It still worked as intended). If you're looking for a trusty climbing companion that will catch you when you fall, GriGri is the way to go!

Climbing is a blast! And belaying a climber is a major skill needed for any type of climbing. Love my GriGri. It’s assisted braking is a nice upgrade, and it also gives a little added comfort to a nervous climber. Easy to use and sturdy. No issues. If not for the price, I’d probably get 2 or 3. (I have 3 ATC’s since they’re on the cheaper side) but a GriGri is a great purchase for any climber. Fun stuff.

Works perfectly for lead or top rope belay. Use it weekly and it is still in great shape 3 years later with no issues. Would buy again. No complaints. Came all the way from the Czech republic!

Lightweight and easy to use. I've had it for quite some time now and am pleased with the quality. I use it indoors primarily. Very nice to have when the person you are belaying is working a route and hangs a lot or takes some good falls. Took me awhile to move to a grigri (old dog, new tricks) but am glad I did. Highly recommend.

The Grigri feels great to use. It lowers very smoothly, the brake assist feels great, it feels solid to hold, and it's easy to use. The cam that assists with breaking works quite well and feels very secure. Minimal muscle is required to hold the break strand down when it's engaged which greatly helps with catching falls and when the climber is resting after a take. However, the product doesn't necessarily feel "quality" in two aspects: 1. The handle used to lower climbers feels slightly loose and wobbly. It makes a very unsatisfying springy sound when pulled, almost like the end of a spring is scratching against the plastic and something is rattling around inside. 2. The sliding door that holds the rope has a bit more wiggle to it than expected. While this seems likely intentional, closing the device feels choppy at times due to this. Overall I'd recommend the device especially over the Grigri+.

I upgraded from the gri gri 2, new version is so much better to use, the rope feeds heaps better on lead belay

Depending on the colour you choose they are either selling you a grigri or grigri+. These are 2 distinct products and should be listed separetly. It's confusing and wasted my time.
