Great card, decent price, works with Citrix.
I was building a Citrix XenServer physical server to host some VMs, and the built it 'fake RAID' wasn't being recognized. At the time, this product wasn't on the hardware compatibility list for Xenserver 6.0, but many other LSI products were. In addition, I wasn't using SAS, but server class SATA drives. I took the chance and ordered the card, and it worked perfectly out of the box! The web interface was easy to use, and the product worked flawlessly with my SATA drives in full RAID-1 mode (mirroring); I'm equally sure it would work with RAID-5. One thing to remember - you need to buy a multi-lane internal SATA cable (or two!). I half expected that there would be several SATA ports on board, but it only has two header ports! I ended up buying the 3Ware internal cable LSI/3Ware CBL-SFF8087OCF-05M SFF-8087 To Discrete Forward Breakout Cable Streamlined Storage , and it wouldn't have worked without it! (But worked perfectly with it.) Be sure to check before you buy, since there are apparently both forward and backward cables - the forward one worked. Overall I am extremely happy with this purchase.

It a greats price but comes with no cables
The product deserves 5 stars based on features. It's a ridiculously low priced PCI-Express RAID controller, if you're looking for one you should already be ordering it. However, it comes with none of the SATA split cables. You will have to buy a cable package from the OEM. This should have been included and just increase the price. Other than this, I highly recommend it. I have it running very well in my ESXI 4.0 server.

Great SAS/SATA Controller for ESXi
Bought for a VMWare ESXi 6 server. Works great out of the box, with no drivers necessary. From my research, this appears to be the cheapest SATA/SAS controller you can get with native VMWare support. Although I've heard other chipsets are capable of working through the use of 3rd party drivers. If you shop around, you'll find these cards available new at around half the Amazon price at a certain auction site (as of 3/1/2016).

works fine
I bought it and it works as expected on a RAID 1 setup I have. But it make a high frequency bee sound in its normal operation (high frequency sound all time). Its not any alarm sound. For first couple of days it took away my sleep since I sleep near to my home server.

It's been a year and I'm Very Pleased :)
It's been a year and I'm Very Pleased so far... No mayor problems. I brought this for managing my disk with Windows Storage Spaces, I don't use the RAID functions just for interface, has performed very well all this months.

Do your research
Product would work great, if I hadn't tried to use it with an incompatible motherboard and Windows Home Server 2012. Teaches me to do more research next time...

Not at all good. Windows 7,8,2008,2012 wouldn't work with the controller. Tried old, new drivers - no change. 2 different machines. Event viewer reported that the drivers couldn't start the controller. And of course if the drivers can't start the controller, then the controller isn't bootable. Finally gave up, returned it, bought an Adaptec controller instead and no problems whatsoever! This is not a good piece of hardware, hence 1 star review
