Review: The sturdiest boot ever! - I NEVER write reviews. But these boots are the best I've ever worn. I've been buying cheaper boots for years, trying to make something work for my issues on the cheap. I'm 71, and age, gravity, and wear and tear have left me with some super flat feet and severe over-pronation. As a result, I need to put a couple aftermarket inserts in there for stability and arch support, and to straighten out my ankles. Most boots buckle because the uppers aren't stout enough. These Oboz are super sturdy and give exceptional support. I just test drove em for a 2 mile hike up behind the house. I'm talking instant comfort and a real sense of security and stability. I'm normally a 12 so after reading reviews here, opted to go up to 13. I'm glad they didn't have 12 1/2 because I think they would've been too short. The 13's are perfect. When I first slipped them on, I was a little worried because they were rather snug and I wondered if I should've gone for the 13 wide. But after only a quarter mile or so, it all came together and they are a perfect fit. Any wider and I would've been swimming side to side in there. I did tons of research before making a choice. I read countless reviews and most of the other manufacturers have gone to ultra light boots, most of which received nominal scores for sturdiness. I also read several different "best of 2025" reviews. These Oboz were always touted for their sturdy build which I knew I needed to accommodate my aforementioned issues. On top of that, I am off trail a lot in horrible steep jagged terrain looking for agates in the New Mexican mountains. At the end of a rock hunt, I usually have 30-40 pounds of agates in my pack and trying to navigate my way down the mountain is often dicey with the flimsy, buckling, inferior boots I've been trying to make work. One review says the Oboz are heavy compared to "modern boots". I would much rather have a few ounces more per boot than some rubbery, unstable, weak side-walled, trendy, superlight boot. These are the ticket! And they are reported to last and last. You get what you pay for! If you enjoy superior support in a boot, for whatever reason, you cannot go wrong with these Oboz. They are comfortable, too, and feel broken in already after only a couple miles. No tender spots either on the outside, or inside of my beat-down, mangled old dogs. Incidentally, the grippy tread is outstanding. All the planets lined up with these babies! I just had to let the world know. Best ever by a million miles. Review: Great boots, excellent design and function. - I order these boots for my father and he absolutely loves them. He wears them every single day and has since 2016. This is officially his 10th pair. I try to get him a new pair every year. The boots are extremely durable and a great value for the money. He likes the weight a lot, not nearly ass heavy as Docs, but still offering a tremendous amount of support. The waterproof feature is a plus. What he appreciates is that even though they are waterproof, they don’t get over hot and still get good airflow. The style works well for him. The Oboz boots have really been a game changer for him and after nearly 10 years of wear of this brand and style, I feel very confident in recommending them to anyone who is on their feet all day. He spends much of his day on gravel and the boots really make a positive difference in his knees and back. He is 66 years old for reference.

Built to last, heavy use.
Just over 2 years! Probably needed to swap them out a few months ago, but I'll miss my old pair. They fit after breaking them in like a pair of moccasins. Original laces gave out 8 months in and the orginal insoles not that great. Swapping the insoles makes these an amazing pair of boots. 10+ hours on my feet with no discomfort. Snug to your feet so extra thick socks probably won't go well and poorly made socks with thick seams on them may hurt your feet with these boots. Worth the investment, you may need to size up but like any good pair of boots they'll form to your feet like mine did. Ps. 200 seems to be the standard for these ones, I got them for that 2 years ago. Worth the 25% off during Black friday.

Great Boot but Needs a Little More Padding
These are my third or fourth pair of Oboz boots over the last 5 years. I bought the same boot last year and use them as my work boots because my feet having falling arches which require a high firm arch support. This new pair will be for hiking. After wearing them for 1 day to start the break in, I noticed that my right lateral ankle was sore. The next day when I put these on, I took 3 steps and the pain from the ankle bone ( lateral malleolus ) was so much that I had to remove the boot. The padding under the top hook is insufficient. The top of the boot has extra material but it is not enough to keep the metal of the top hook from bruising the ankle. I sewed a piece of sole liner into the inside of the boot and this pads the area sufficiently ( see photo of the right boot ). Shouldn't have to do that, so 1 star off for inadequate padding at the top of the boot. Otherwise these are a comfortable, reliable and long lasting boot that does well on the trail.

Great boits!
These are great shoes. I'm an avid hikers and backpacker and decided to give Oboz a try a few years ago. I was impressed by their comfort and durabilty; plus the look. Since then I've bought three pair as I wear them out hiking mainly in the Southern Appalachians.

Good shoes
One of the best hiking shoes ever, quite comfortable, water proof and has a great insole that supports my arch really well. Definitely worth the price. It's not too heavy but not light either.

Strong choice !
Solid boot! Bought after severely spraining ankle on hike - these boots give strong support without being overly heavy. Great lateral support and comfortable on pavement or rough trails.

Comfortable, Run Narrow, Great Support
This is my second pair of these boots and they are my favorite hiking boot. The leather and sole last a very long time, 2 years of average use including walking on pavement. Both mens and women’s run very narrow. I am a female with a wide foot, especially in the toe box area with a bunion on big toe and pinky side as well. I wear the men’s wide and they are the most comfortable shoe I’ve ever owned. Not only for the width, but for the support in the tread and footbed. I also have high arches and these are great support. When you tighten the area around the ankle they stay tight and add support and they are very warm. Some might find them a little too warm in summer.

I bought these after being disappointed, again, by quality shortcomings with Merrell shoes and boots. These appear to be of much higher quality, solid and well made. So far they are firm underfoot but, supportive and comfortable. Cannot comment on waterproofing as have not been out in wet weather yet, when wearing these boots. Will add to this review when the boots have had a lot more use, early signs are good. Edit: Have been using these for nearly three months now, everyday. Support and comfort continues to be excellent, they keep my feet dry and appear to be wearing well with no signs of any build quality issues. I WILL be buying these boots again. PS, I bought size 13, not 8 as stated above.
