Air quality is huge in your personal space
I have one of these in my bedroom and I bought one for my boyfriend and am amazed at how well they work. I bought this one for a good friend that has terrible sinus problems- I’m hopeful it will help her.

Strong
It's a very old-school device and, of course, produces a little bit of ozone. But on the upside, it's much cheaper than the Ion Trading Japan MI-1000-S and produces a much stronger ionic wind (compared it myself) and doesn't smell like cheap plastic. On the downside, it appears that the emitter antenna here would be harder to clean than the emitter 'needles' of the MI. Tip: Don't leave your phone near it for too long. I did and some pixels of my OLED screen started to act up. The problem went away after keeping my phone away from the device for some time. This happened twice and has never happened before with my screen, so I'm pretty sure of the correlation.

Didn't work for me
I really wanted this product to work for me. I have a lot of symptoms whenever a low pressure system moves through that seem like they could be explained the effects of positive ions. But unfortunately it only ever seemed to make me feel worse when I had it running. It would always make me feel really tired and mildly sick. It also emits a funny smell, I'm not sure if it's ozone or something else. I also noticed small black spots on the wall starting to form and weren't easy to get off. I'm still giving this four stars because it seems to work for others, and it emits orders of magnitude more negative ions than any of the other products out there. I wish it worked for me, but maybe it will work for you.

I don't know if this thing actually works, but I feel better
I have read studies about negative ions helping with depression. I have not felt depressed since I got this. If you can afford to take a gamble on negative ions, this one seems to be the right choice. Others do not create enough ions at the levels that get consistently good results. When the plastic is around the antenna, the sensor indicates no ions. When I take it off, it detects ions. So ions are being generated. Is it as many as claimed? Who knows? But the scientists who ran these tests used the same specs as this product, so it is worth the gamble in my eyes. Certainly as worthwhile as medicating for depression, which I also do. It also helps clean the air. Maybe the 2 are related. Or maybe ECT works because it cancels positive ions in toxins in our brains and we can get that effect from just putting these negative ions in the air. I put mine next to the intake of my cpap all night so I am pumping negative oxygen ions up my nose all night. The experiments indicate that it does not matter how many nights you do this, which may suggest that positive ions could be trapped in the brain and can be reset with a healing effect that lasts many days or longer. It does feel right to me that depression could partly be a lack of electrons, blocking the movement of some signals in the brain with some stubborn positively charged toxins like air pollution. It does feel toxic and blocked to be depressed.

Worthless
I purchased this to take on vacation to help air out the hotel rooms. I tried it at home first and found it to be worthless. I have many different kinds of air cleaners and was excited to take this one on vacation. It worked electronically but was not powerful enough to dissipate any room odors or fragrance in a 24 hr period. My teeny tiny Wein air cleaner worked much better.

Loving it so far
I think I love this thing! I bought it on whim and I think it's actually making a difference for me. I've read the warnings about ionic air purifiers creating "soot" when they're working well, so for that reason (and others) I don't leave it on all the time.

If you want a quiet and filter-less air purifier that produces negative ions this is it.
This negative ion emitter has been cleaning the air in my friend's LA house for the last two years. She has lung issues and she loves this machine. Now that I have my own Wein Vortex VI-3500 ROOM IONIC AIR PURIFIER I too am enjoying the fresh air it creates. I'm going to be buying a second one soon since it is so light & portable and keeps the air fresh. I thought there would be a plastic smell to it when I opened the box, but nope, no smell.

Not What Ionizer Used to Be
This is advertised as one of the strongest room ionizers on the market. Unless something has changed in regards to regulations or what ionizers are allowed to put out volume wise, I find this product to be very weak. I bought a negative ionizer back in the 80's that literally, if you turned it up high would create a room full of static electricity and serious dust as particles fell from the air. It was metal (this one is plastic) and a quarter the size. Perhaps it is because I live in Florida with high humidity and low dust particles, or perhaps with so many more electronics now with computers and phones these ionizers can no longer produce that high of ionization without damaging them, but compared to what I bought almost 40 years ago, this is a way inferior product; at roughly the same price. I have very little dust evidence that it is doing its job or notice much of a difference in air quality. Thinking of sending it back. Hard to believe this is the strongest ionizer on the market today.
