Larry Gets Lost Series are a big hit
Once you purchase one book in this series, you’ll want to collect the others. It’s a great way for young children to learn what different cities across the country offer.

We bought this book to read with the kids (ages 4 and 6yr) before visiting Washington DC. The story/plot is pretty standard for the Larry Gets Lost series (i.e. Larry and Pete get separated, which then causes Larry to take a circuitous journey to the major sites of the city). The storyline is pretty boring, and some of the rhymes seemed forced. BUT it served it's intended purpose, which was to provide a brief primer of the major DC sites to our kids. And the kids really liked the book. Throughout our the trip, they kept referencing the book, as in "Hey, this is where Larry went!" or "Larry saws this too!" I felt the book gave just the right amount of depth for the preschool/early elementary set.

Another great Larry book
Our family are huge fans of Larry's adventures, and this one does not disappoint. These books are great ways for children to learn about other cities in our nation. The rhymes are cute and easy for kids to follow along with. The stylized illustrations are whimsical and I love looking at them as we read.I personally don't see any issue with the content of the book at all. It is, after all, about our nations capitol and I anticipated that there would be an appearance of at least one war memorial. Add to that the stylized illustration technique and you could totally pass over the fact that there are guns depicted in the memorials. I think that other reviews are making much ado about nothing. All in all I recommend this book as a great addition to your children's library.

Seriously?
I was a little bit nervous about this purchase because of the reviews. The whole gun thing seemed iffy. I got it anyways deciding I can send it back if I needed to. After looking it over all I can say to the negative reviews is, seriously? The controversial page is about the Korean War Memorial. It is an amazing memorial and the drawing is just depicting it. If your kids are old enough to go to DC or live in DC, this book is fine. Honestly, they are going to see memorials and museums with this stuff in them. I'm not pro-gun by any means, I just think it's a little ridiculous. Be a parent and explain it or change the page if it bothers you.

Cute Book!
I bought this for my 2nd grade class to read before I left on a trip to DC. I wanted them to be familiar with some of the sights of the city before I sent photos of my trip. As I was searching for a book, I realized there's not many storybooks about Washington DC for children this age. I love that it also gave real information about the landmarks. They LOVED this book!!

Perfect Book to Get a Young Child Ready for a Trip to Washington DC
I looked at several books to help get 6 year old excited for his first trip to Washing DC. This book is simple, short (30-ish pages), picture book that highlights the major attractions in Washington DC - Washington Monument, Lincoln Memorial, White House, National Museum of Natural History, National Air and Space Museum, US Capitol, etc. The story is entertaining, and the explanations of the various sites are simple, but provide a great introduction to Washington DC for young children.

Great book! Buy through Amazon and not the museums...
I saw this book at the Smithsonian while on vacation. I always make it a point to buy the kids a present from my out of town vacations. This is the perfect book to familiarize them with our capitol! It has a good story, but also has interesting facts interwoven throughout. If you buy on Amazon you also save some $ from buying it in the museums.

It’s great.
My 2.5 year old loves this series. This seemed a little “forced” of a story compared to others. I’m nitpicking. It’s great.
