The Wedding Party by Jasmine Guillory
Oh my gosh, this is so far my absolute absolute favorite in this series. Maddie is a stylist who has made a career out of helping people figure out how to dress, how to look successful, what goes with what and so much more. Theo works for a politician and is kind of a snob. He doesn’t realize how he sometimes comes across. They have this cat and mouse game going on throughout the book over things that happened previously and what their opinion is of each other. You also get to be part of Alexa and Drew’s wedding from book 1. There is so much laughter in this entire story and there is a closet scene that had me laughing with tears running down my face. This story introduces Theo’s brother Ben and you realize that while he may seem to be a basic child, that when push comes to shove, he can step up and do what is necessary. There are so many wonderful things about this book, ALL the characters and the storyline. It is a classic enemies to lovers, but it is done with humor, class, and a ton of enjoyment. This author and her work make me extremely happy.

Black Love
If you're thinking you already read this story before you may have read the first book in the series The Wedding Date. This is a continuation of that story but with a different focus. Drew and Alexa from that story are still featured since they are in the process of planning their wedding. There's a second book in between these two stories but you don't need to read The Proposal to read this story. Though you may enjoy this story more if you read The Wedding Date. This story is about Alexa's two best friends Maddie and Theo. Maddie and Theo really don't get along because they just never clicked after meeting. But they end up hooking up after a night of partying they end up hooking up. Wanting to have a no strings attached relationship they decide to start secretly hooking up on and off for a year.I feel like we don't always get to see black people portrayed in a loving healthy relationship in the media. I liked that Theo and Maddie has an easy going relationship where they got to just be normal. They sit on the couch eating takeout binge watching their favorite TV shows. They have discussions about being black in the workplace and their career aspirations. I feel like so often in contemporary black romance the guy is a player/bad boy. Theo is a good guy and very quirky. He loves to cook and make things from the freshest ingredients. And he loves coffee. He's definitely one of those coffee people who has a special method of making it. And it's nice to see Maddie come to appreciate these little things about him. Maddie is the pretty girl who people automatically have perceptions of. Theo allows her to show her less put together side.

Lovely
Loved how the two important people to the bride fell in love with one another thinking it was a big secret and the bride realized it anyway. Loved how they were able to be their true authentic selves with one another. A wonderful book I couldn't stop reading.

enemies to enemies, where’s the love?
This enemies to lovers did not do it for me, which is a shame because I love this trope. The two characters are described as prickly but instead they’re plain rude and mean. If anyone called me a stuck up b*tch, or a boring dud, I would not be giving them the time of day. I didn’t see the chemistry and I didn’t see anything beyond the s*x that had these two characters in each others orbit. The writing was stilted and didn’t flow. These characters eat pizza on every other page, which may be trying to be a cutesy addition to the story but became annoying instead. Didn’t love it, so I’m going to skip the next book in the series.

Another Amazing Jasmine Guillory Hit!
I am a big fan of Jasmine Guillory and The Wedding Party did not disappoint. At first I was confused that it was talking about Alexa and Drew splitting up but I realized that this was a parallel track to the Jasmine's first book, The Wedding Date. this third book focuses on Alexa's 2 best friends - Maddie and Theo (who is also her co-worker).This is an enemies to lovers story. When Maddie and Theo first met, they had a difference of opinions about each other and they had a hard time being in the same area with each other for the sake of their mutual friend Alexa. Too much liquor and a ride home led to a sexy night which changed everything. They still could barely stand each other but the sex was great. Both characters have their faults that make it hard for them to get together. They frequently misunderstand each other and get their feelings hurt but in the end, they manage to find their Happily ever After.

Really enjoyable romance novel. Loving this entire series!
I have enjoyed each of the books in this series and think they just keep getting better and better as each one comes out. I read Royal Holiday out of order from this one, and I still think that is my favorite but this is a VERY close second. This one contained one of my favorite scenarios - e.g. we hate each other and so of course we are going to do something we will not understand and therefore regret, but not really. I loved Maddie and Theo together, and of course they tried to keep it casual, and keep if from Alexa, which doesn’t last. This became a little old, but it was all for the best and I really loved how it caught up to them in the end.As far as the steam factor, there is quite o bit of hoo boy in here, so you have been warned if that is not for you. I can skip over this stuff and so it does not bother me. I did not need to with this book, I just know there are some that it might be a bit much for, so just giving you all a heads up.Overall, I absolutely recommend this one: the audio was fantastic, and I enjoyed all of the characters in this book. I really wanted pizza most of the time I was reading this, heck, I even want to try roasted garlic on mine… You’ll understand when you read this, trust me.

So much fun!
Besides being a fast-paced romance novel, it was so funny that I laughed aloud multiple times. I love to escape into good fiction and this story was just what I need it. I've read this one out of sequence and it was easy to follow. This was a worthy purchase.

Must read!
Bought the kindle version. Such a cute book that addresses not only love and passion and intimacy but politics and being African American.
