After experiencing the 2021 Arctic outbreak and winter storm in Texas, with prolonged power outages, I did a post-event review to better prepare my house for prolonged subfreezing weather. I have a water well and water softener, so I have lots of exposed plumbing, and rather than replacing worn and weathered pipe insulation sleeves, I decided to get some of this and some heavy duty waterproof and UV-resistant duct tape and make my own. I cut the lengths of this insulation that I needed and wrapped it around all of my pipes, in sections, on top of the preexisting insulation sleeves, with the reflective foil side facing inward. Then I sealed it all up with the black duct tape. To work properly, radiant barriers need an air gap between the surface and the barrier, so with this method there's a roughly quarter-inch air gap between the old pipe insulation and the new one, and the tape thoroughly sealed it all up to keep air out. The rolls of this product are small, and because of the way our brains have trouble judging dimensions without a reference, you might be surprised to get these small things, but it's the size that I needed. The one downside is that these weren't cut exactly square; I'm guessing they cut them from a bigger roll. But this was so handy, inexpensive, and easy to use, that I won't ding them for that.

My refrigerator insulation is not good as you can feel it's cold outside maybe due to aging. I use this insulator to partially wrap it. It looks good so far. I'll see what will happen in this summer. And the price is the best among the peers!

The ice cubes in our fridge ice maker can melt slightly and refreeze, then got stuck together as one big chunk that had to be ditched. Decided to insulate the ice maker with this product. No more stuck ice.
