Simply Wood Trough

I ordered this large planter at a great price through Toucan Hammocks. Although the dispatched it very quickly via DHL, the Covid-19 lockdown kicked in before it arrived.Delivery was delayed by DHL through no fault of the supplier. I contacted Toucan on three occasions and each time they responded within a couple of hours even if I emailed them I the evening.They chased DHL and when I asked for the ttrackingracking details they were provided in minutes. I was very impressed.My planter arrived today. It is a lovely quality and really nicely finished. I am confident it will last for years.Now I just have to order some plants to go in it as all the garden tentres are closed!!!

I don't know how these will last - a review after a few years might be more useful. We bought two to grow herbs in, and they look really good, apart from the top corners being a bit gappy where the pieces meet (worse than the angle of my picture taken for another purpose shows).However, are they intended to hold pots, which might not look so good? Or are they meant only to sit on the garden? I didn't notice the picture showing the bottoms are widely slatted and so wasn't sure how well they would hold in chippings. We may have done something daft (being garden ignoramuses), but we lined the planters with black weed-retarding membrane, then used a lot of chippings before the compost-based mix for the herbs. We ended up putting ours on a slabbed area although we hadn't been sure before lining them.

Good looking trough. I had not had one before and was unsure how best to fill it. I used a black liner and made holes in it for drainage as the base of the trough was slatted. Takes a lot of compost, but this is explained in description. Very pleased with purchase.

Great little raised beds for garden at a great price, delivery also not as late as forecast. Not the most solid I have seen ( would not stand on them), but adequately strong enough for there purpose. They look great, and are great value for money, so I would recommend.

Really good product

A sturdy and very useful trough. Looks good on the edge of the patio. my only minor observation is the slatted bottom. Fine if you are just using it for potted plants. I used it as a planter and lined it with thick polythene sheet to protect the wood before cutting in drainage holes and filling it with compost and plants.Very pleased with its appearance and versatility. Just have to act quickly next spring before my wife tries to fill it with flowers.

These are good planted around 1m long and with enough depth. They look smart, particularly with a coat of oil. The bottom has slats and so are only suitable to existing pots. But you can add some planks of wood to seal the bottom to use as full planters. One quality issue is that the sills aren't very well fixed in place. They are simply nailed on and the sills themselves easily come loose. One of ours was pushed out of position in delivery. But if you are happy to add some screws, these are quite good planters for the price.

The product is a lovely colour wood and perfect for planting my herbs and veg. I’m just very sad that it was not packaged in adequate packaging and this caused it to arrive damaged. I would like to be able to order another in future but would like to know it would be padded much better for shipping safely.
