And you thought your siblings were demons.
This title started coming up on Amazon late last year. I recall the originally intended title was The Demon Who Became My Sister but for some reason, it was changed to The Elder Sister-Like One. I've just read Volume 1 and thought it got the series off to a good start. We have Yuu, a boy orphaned at an early age and his remaining relatives are none too enthusiastic about trying to raise him. He's shy, quiet, and has the ability to see supernatural beings. A cousin is willing to take him in, but when the cousin is hospitalized, Yuu stumbles across a secret cellar and encounters a bizarre being down there. She offers to grant him a wish and he wishes she could be his big sister. She takes the name Chiyo and a more human form and that's how we get underway. Chiyo might be powerful, but it turns out the everyday can throw her for a loop. To borrow from Miss Kobayashi's Dragon Maid, she is a bit like Lucoa, not always aware of what constitutes appropriate behavior, especially with a boy who's supposed to be her brother. Still, Yuu is happy to have someone who actually cares for him. The Elder Sister-Like One is more dramatic than the usual monster girl fare but the story is interesting and does make me want to see what happens next (though a comment Yuu makes forecasts trouble ahead). Indeed, this series can be recommended to those people who always suspected their siblings must be of demonic origin.

What you want to know before buying
As a reviewer looking toward a potential buyer, here's what I would have liked to know before buying........There is NO NUDITY and NO FOUL LANGUAGE in this book. There are NO softcore sex scenes. There are a few instances that the female lead is nude to the male lead but it is drawn with hair or whatnot strategically placed in order to conceal the "bits and pieces".......Now.......... with that out of the way. What YOU DO HAVE is a classic ecchi comedy about an unwanted and unloved boy "meeting" a "girl" who he gets to have as a "big sister". I'm trying not to ruin anything that you can't get obviously from the title. It is a cute story and it would probably make a pretty good anime if it was done in a darker vein (not that anyone would do that). I'd like to see the group that did the "Angels of Death" anime try this as a ultra dark comedy.Anyway....... Hopefully this helps.

A strange, happy slice of life manga with dark overtones.
So I’ve seen this book around, but I just assumed it was another one of those “Demon Overlord” tropes, that have now become something of a genre these days. Then one day I decided to take a closer look at the title. Wondering what was up with the horns. And boobs. So imagine my surprise when I discovered that there was a mass of eyeballs around her neck and that she was in fact, Shub-Niggurath, one of the trifecta of primordial beings from the Cthulhu Mythos. So now they had my attention. What followed was a relaxing, sometimes funny, sometimes ecchi (I’ve seen worse) series of slice of life takes. There are a number of conversations, however, that let you know that this slice of life manga isn’t going to remain so for long. Nothing with a Cthulhu influence should be related to the words, “happy ending.”The art is quite good with great facials expressions and the Dutch angles of some scenes are well done without becoming confusing or irritating. You can that the artist can do horror from his use strong of shading as well., especially shadows. I’m really looking forward to the next volume.

So much fun!
I bought vols 1 and 2 together and blew through them in one night. I've seldom been disappointed to reach the end but these books are the exception. The art is terrific, the characters engaging, and the issues poor 14-year-old Yuu has with his bombshell of an "older sister" not understanding the concept of personal space are perfectly written.I took a chance on these because I'm a lifelong HP Lovecraft fan. Unlike so many other books, these do something different and clever with one of HPL's gods. I want more RIGHT NOW.

Didn't know what to expect.
We find Yuu, a young orphan living at his uncle's house all alone. He meets a demon that he is taken with instantly. Why is he not afraid of the woman with goat hooves for legs? This is answered by the end of the volume, and says a lot about why this boy is a loner. There is a surprising amount of heart in the story. The "sister", Chiyo, has fun taking the form of a human and trying all of the things that humans can do. Food, TV, books. All are new to her and she loves the culture. She doesn't quite get how to be a big sister, but she is learning. The art in this book is outstanding. Splashes of darkness, and a few creepy people walking around. Just enough to give a hint of the underworld that exists on a different plain of existence. And then there is the beautifully drawn Chiyo, who steals all of the pages on which she is drawn. This is a fantastic first volume, and I cannot wait to read more. I think the title of the book leaves people scratching their heads when they first see it. I feel like they could have done better than calling it "Sister-Like." I get it now, and I am hooked.

The Elder Sister Like One by: Pochi Iida / Pochi - Goya
WARNING !!!——> ( MEN / GUYS / BOYS ) THIS WILL INDUCE PSYCHOLOGICAL TRAUMA!View this material at your own risk! This is a masterpiece in its own right, however, that is not because of the story in my opinion, more to do with the hidden dark subconscious imagery which maybe aims to punish all male readers / those unsuspecting, foolish or crazy enough to read! (me) or those who, perhaps at times, objectify women, even if only in a fictional 2D form...Although if your reading something with a demonic theme then perhaps that is to be expected?! I guess the clue is in the title / front page: ( The sister of the woods with a thousand young )Probably best to stop at page one! 😂Some of you may not be clever enough to understand fully, how deeply disturbing and insidious at times this imagery is.This could make any guy feel ill and perhaps not sleep properly for a while after.I feel bad but also strangely grateful that a work like this exists in our world, I totally love the Artists aesthetic style and it truley does ooze pure dark ecchiness! Just know you may experience some psychosis after reading this one, I’m not so sure I am man enough to read the Hentai Doujinshi this manga is based off.Her other doujinshi works like the Dagashi Kashi fanbook are much kinder to men lol and much less jarring! if your just looking for half naked cute girls your probably better off with that. Please know if your just looking for a lighthearted “fan service” type manga this may not be the one for you! Hopefully I have saved some of you guys some serious nightmares!( YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED )“All is fine, I think, I hope, just wrap it in a plastic storage sleeve with some black and yellow caution tape and only ever look at the front covers “

5* (so far)
After reading the 1st 2 volumes, I'm rather liking how the storys been told so far.Don't get me wrong there are some weird parts but i personally don't think its as "psychologically traumatising" as some have made out to be.Its actually been rather humble and far so im look forward to seeing how it progresses

Scuffed Corners.
The story itself is pretty funny and weirdly cute at times but the book came with tattered corners.

Cute characters, excellent inter-character dynamics
this is a story featuring a cute pair of lead characters who have excellent chemistry together and are each interesting in their own ways (especially the female lead pictured!).

The Ecchi but more wholesome version.
If you've ever wondered what mix of Lovecraft-ian Horrors, Wholesome family slice of life, incest undertones, Monster Girl, comedy, and some weirdness is like, than this is the series for you. It will open new doors into realms you never thought to exist.
