Good quality at a good price
Okay first of all, I bought a 2013 Chevy Cruze LT 1.4T at 206K miles for 2.2K. I considered it a good deal as the car ran smoothly for the mileage it had. (IF YOU DO NOT TRUST YOURSELF TO LEARN AS YOU FIX, THINK TWICE ABOUT REPLICATING MY ACTIONS) I researched how reliable this car was and saw many had issues due to cooling and air intake. I have spent about 1.4K on parts (which includes brake pads, brake rotors, thermostat housing, valve cover, this intake manifold, 4 new tires, spark plugs, a set of GM fuses, an ignition coil, wipers, small PCV hose, a new battery, coolant, oil and oil filter). This part is a perfect fit. It’s made of near same quantity or better as the one I removed. For experienced mechanics, I don’t see this taking longer than 15-20 minutes, It’s a pretty straight forward process and easy to do yourself (but as I said caution, if you don’t like/won’t do your own repairs, a Chevy Cruze is not for you, I saved myself about 1.5-3k in labor by doing it all myself). (THIS IS WHERE THAT CAUTION KICKS IN) I bought a 262 pc mechanic tool set along side some other tools and I gave myself an hour to do the change. It only took the full hour long to ensure there was no remaking gasket gunk on the metal bit that this goes on to. It performs as intended and it’s been about a week since I installed it and still no issues. It looks good and seemed of quality material. (This is my opinion do not take it as scripture) I followed the process near perfectly (mixed up screws 12 and 13) there has been no leakage or spills of any kind. I believe with study and confidence anyone can service their own vehicle. I did this on the fly and with no previous mechanic experience aside from doing my own oil change.

Great value and significant cost savings buying this Dorman valve cover vs OEM from dealership or GM
So far this part is performing without issue. Part was an exact match to original. Came packaged well and quickly. It did include the gasket and screws. If you are installing the cover, you must follow the sequence for tightening the screws and the amount of torque applied to each screw. These instructions are included with item. If you don’t follow the instructions you will risk the item failing. I can recommend. Hope this helps.

It's getting harder to make sense of anything these days
My expectation was higher for (what I used to believe was) a reputable brand. I'm not 100% writing it off just yet. I'm going to reach out and ask them if they can make sense of this~ Injection molded should not look like its pieced together and haphazardly welded/mended leaving edges that aren't flush with each other This looks like it has a high probability of being defective. This is what they've been calling the enshitification epidemic.. low quality, even lower integrity, and a painfully unpleasant experience. If i put this on and its defective, what happens?? It can cause SERIOUS engine damage.. losing a vehicle, even temporarily, can have major impacts on several important aspects of your life. Or less extreme, you have to either pay for more labor to get it removed or spend more of your time, order ANOTHER replacement, install that one again... where does it ever end?? They already have the loopholes in place to win that battle, there's suggestion stickers and a flyer saying **that you need another part because the one you're replacing damaged another component ** and although that is true to an extent.. The defects on this part will in case that didn't already happen. This is their only job. What's causing disruption in the daily flow of your life mobility/transportation is what they are hyper focused on daily. They won't take accountability and it could potentially be the straw on a camels back for some people out there financially struggling.. this rock bottom morale is spreading like fire throughout. Don't tolerate it. Don't contribute to it

The fix for the problem that shouldn't have existed.
There was a time a few years ago that I didn't really think that much of Dorman automotive products. I saw them as a cheap budget alternative to superior OEM parts. And I don't think Dorman has really changed much...but the quality of OEM parts for a lot of manufacturers has fallen to such a great extent that Dorman now matches OEM quality and sometimes exceeds it. That's the case for this valve cover. As is the way with nearly every GM 1.4 L turbo, the intake manifold blew that little check valve and in turn blew out the valve cover's integrated PCV diaphram on my girlfriend's Buick Encore. Everywhere I looked online said Dorman replacements were the way to go for this problem- so I bought the Dorman intake manifold from another seller, and got the valve cover/pcv from here. Installed it all over the course of a couple hours and had zero problems with fit or installation. Its been over 10k miles since I did the fix and there are no signs of leaks or cracks or any other problems with these Dorman replacements. Everything's still working great.

This product can actually damage your car!!!
As a well experienced engineer and a mechanic, I am quite aware of the process and procedures to install the (my) 2014 Chev Sonic LT a new rocker/PVC cover and replaced the last one at 30,000 miles. Although the plastic extrusion looks quite well built... however, the fasteners are poor quality and two of the bolts were actually damaged causing stripping the engine block... to add the damage, one bolt actually broke in the engine case... I had to drill out the "new" bolt and install an extractor to remove it. In the end, I had to reinstall the old one and am returning the "new" one! I think I should be safer by buying it via the dealer in the future. By the wait, I attempted this install at 5 Inch Pounds (and that's slightly less than the recommendations). Also the bold heads (E10 star) are too shallow for comfort and none included the bolt head washers.

Great!
Excellent. Did the trick and fixed a long-term issue that my vehicle had, probably from the factory. Pleased and even 3 years later it’s still holding up no more oil spitting out or smoke coming from the engine. Big thank you!
