Highly readable book presented in a very solemn dark green leather imitation (hardcover) edition
The colour on the photo is quite misleading - what you actually receive is a book in a handy small format (quite thick though as is to be expected) that is presented in a very nice, very dark green colour with gold letters and imitiation leather. The pages are white and thin but entirely readable, even for me with my not so young eyes anymore. If you have never used a breviary before like me, it makes sense to read the entire ca. 100 pages of introduction which describes how to use the book (I recommend to also read the Wikipedia article on Divine Office for a more concise historical introduction, stating that Christian practice took the daily prayers over from Jewish tradition and that the timings were taken from Roman custom..which the introduction in this book partily omits...especially the Jewish heritage...). ...it then becomes clear why 5 included coloured ribbon markers are just about enough to pre-arrange your daily prayer texts...as there are bits and pieces from different parts of the book that are suggested for use for the full experience for each daily prayer. "Daily Prayer is taken directly from ‘The Divine Office’, and includes the major daily offices of ‘Morning Prayer’, ‘Evening Prayer’, ‘Prayer during the Day’, and ‘Night Prayer’, for every day of the church year. The only omission from the full ‘Divine Office’ is the Office of Readings. ‘Daily Prayer’ also includes updated tables of Moveable Liturgical Days, as well as the General Calendar." The book is a bit too thick to take on travels ...but there are two excellent free apps for the Divine Office that show all daily prayers fully arranged by calendar day, which saves a lot of time as one doesn't have to 'find' all parts for a particular day and time of the day, as is the case in this slightly complicated book.If anyone prefers to use a printed breviary that is arranged by calendar days, then I can fully recommend the 2nd, revised edition of the 'Benedictine Daily Prayer: A Short Breviary Imitation Leather – 16 Dec. 2015'.

Daily Prayer on the Divine Office
I was using the " Shorter Morning &Evening prayer" by Collins, which is very good but this book is more indept and covers each day of the year ,especially usefull for Lent,Easter and Christmastide readings, psalms etc.and special readings for Saints of the day . Really enjoy and will definately reccomend it.I am president of womens lay dominicans and while the small book is good for beginers ,this one I will be reccommending to follow on.God Bless,Ann

Looks better than in the photo.
The binding is hardcover with imitation leather and looks pretty sturdy, love the colour. The pages are really thin as you'd find in most modern Bible prints so there is some see-through but doesn't bother me much, maybe I'm just used to it haha.I won't comment much on the contents as others have done so already and it is what it says on the cover. I think it's a good help for a daily (or less than daily) practice and is quite well laid out as a tool to that end. It's a fairly thick book so probably not the most comfortable as a travel companion. Can't give it five stars as the first one that got delivered had some pages repeated, got a replacement for free but the replacement had the separator ribbons stuck to the pages with what seems like droplets of some sort of adhesive, it took quite some effort to remove the glue while minimising the damage to the fragile pages but I managed in the end and no pages were torn or rendered unreadable, still I feel I like shouldn't've needed to do that.

great book
This book is the perfect companion for a dayly prayer in communion with the whole Catholic Church. Great translation. Moreover the book is made very well, you can open and close many times a day for years and it looks like new. I got it in perfect condition and short time. I absolutely recommend it.

It's not the one I paid for.
Some parts of the book missed(six ribons) and the book is a second hand it is not equal to the money I paid for it.I like the book and the contents. It has all according to Catholic calendar.I just wait for a new copy in exchange to the one you have sent to me. Thanks.

Excellent version
The UK version of the LOH is slightly different in tranlsation from the version approved for use in the USA. There are aspects of this version that I much prefer to the US version such as the intercession translation and construction and the fact that there are no psalm prayers. While I like psalm prayers, I don't like the ones in the US version of the LOH. I find the US version to be somewhat "clerical" in tone. Daily Prayer, all in all a definite five stars.

Wonderful
Having the short Daily Prayer book and the Morning and Evening Daily Prayer book, I was a little worried that this book wouldn't offer much more. But I was pleasantly surprised. The readings for during the day are a welcome addition. It is slightly bigger than the evening and morning prayer book, but has a lot more content. I use my faith and structure my day around prayer times because of my PTSD. A condition I have unfortunately have been afflicted with due to my 25 years in the police force. I find that a structured approach to prayer helps to control the PTSD as there is something to focus on other than oneself. If you have thought about mediation and not sure where to turn, I recommend this edition. It's a well constructed book, with a good preface and clear instructions on its use. I promise you that once you start on your structured prayer journey, you will never be without it. It's been an incredible source of focus and comfort for me and I highly recommend it.

I'm so glad this is still in print!
This is a beautiful edition. Actually it looks better than the photo, with rounded edges and leather-like binding. Well bound inside with stitched folios. Translation is the same one as my old, well-worn, well-loved edition that goes back to 1974 (with original Grail Psalm translation, etc). To my mind this edition, the one approved long ago for outside the US, is better in many ways than the US-approved editions from Liturgical Press. No psalm prayers. Lovely type face. Better translations of the readings and antiphons (plus original, well-loved Grail Psalms). And lovely prayer petitions. I am just so glad to have a new copy of an old friend. My old one is still usable but I wanted a replacement - in better shape - for the future. This edition of Daily Prayer matches the three-volume set of the full Divine Office from the same publisher (Collins). The only thing I like better in the old copy is that the paper they used then was an off-white, which is easier on the eyes. And the old ribbons are probably stronger (or rather, were... but they've lasted!) Nevertheless, this very book parallels the look of the current 3-volume Collins set of the entire Divine Office. If you want the full Divine Office, I strongly recommend the three-volume edition from Collins (over the 4 volumes from Liturgical Press). I actually have both because I wanted one in Large Type, which is only available from Liturgical Press, so I've had plenty of time with each - to make a comparison. The difference between the one here (Daily Prayer) and the Divine Office 3-volume set is that the latter has all the Office Readings, together with its psalms, for each of the Church "seasons" along with antiphons specific to the "seasons" of the Church year. But the single volume "Daily Prayer" (shown here) does include Office Readings for the Great Feasts, along with both Morning and Evening Prayer, as well as the entire Mid-Day Prayer and Compline (Night Prayer). Also it includes antiphons for all the Church "seasons" - so that makes for multiple antiphons before each psalm or canticle, from which you have to choose.Nevertheless, this edition of Daily Prayer is both beautiful and a pretty good deal, given how much it contains. And if you're a busy person likely it has as much as you can make use of on a daily basis. Plus, if you want to pray more, you can always read the Office of Readings (and daily Mass readings) at "Universalis" over the web. (Or download from them to a device of your choice, though personally I find it easier to pray with a book!)Blessings upon you, whatever you choose! And remember, when you pray the Divine Office - no matter how much of it you pray - you are participating in Worldwide Liturgical Prayer - going on every minute - somewhere in the world. Thus exercising our mutual calling as Christians to lift up (consecrate) all creation & all time - to the last speck of dust - toward our ultimate cosmic transfiguration in Christ. This is an awesome calling!
