See pictures, don’t darken like you expect.
ESS PHOTOCHROMIC LENSE. These aren’t worth $120 and I will be returning them. I won’t write a lengthy review because I took photos comparing the photochromic with the standard clear lense and the standard Smoke lense. They do darken quickly, however they require DIRECT sunlight, if any portion of the lense is shaded then they will remain clear. They wouldn’t darken under the bill of my ball cap and they don’t get as dark as the standard smoke lense.

Disappointed in the tint function
I have used ESS eye wear now for a few years and have been quite happy. This lens that my wife gave me for my birthday fits as expected but, this was also supposed to be photochromic. The paperwork within the box states that they should tint when exposed to light but, I have to say, these aren't what I expected. If they are tinting in the light, it is very nominal. I have other glasses with this capability and thought these might be a nice addition to my shooting glasses but, I'm disappointed in these and think I will return them as they were quite pricey.

Don't buy
Does not tint or get darker at all. They are just clear. I'm a crane operator and thought they would be nice I left them in direct sun for an hour and they never changed!

Seem to lose function over time/ don't transition quickly enough
I bought these before a MOUT exercise and they do get pretty dark when in the sun but when going from sunlight to dark indoor settings it takes a minute to lighten up. I've used them while biking for about 2 years now and they don't seem to get as dark now as they used to in the sun.

Mala inversión Se oscurecen pero molesta la luz del sol, no existe diferencia al ver entre cuando están oscuros o están claros. Se empañan fácilmente. El apoyo de la nariz no se ajusta. No los volvería a comprar.

These are the BEST safety glasses I ever had! Had Oakleys, Smiths, etc. But the quality of these ones are far beyond my expectations and what I like most is the super sturdy construction and how fast they react to the sun light. Yeah, SUNLIGHT. They use the UV rays to activate the cells, so don’t expect with other light source tu turn this lens on. They react super fast, but takes like a minute to go back to clear if you get inside of a building or any enclosed dark area. These lens definitely resolved my problem of having to different lenses with me (night/day).
