Coolpad Mega 2.5D (Champagne-Gold)

I have purchased this for my dad in the first flash sale and he seemed happy with the phone.Been using it for the past 15 days and the experince is satisfactory1. Build quality is good and it feels light.My honor 5x feels heavy when i use it after handling this phone.2. Display is not full hd. But it offers crisp and clear screen. Ok for the price3. No lag observed till now. On the first day, the three touch buttons below stuck for a minute and i thought of replacing the phone. But after they started working, it never happened again and everything is smooth.4. You can get some 10gb out of 16 and its ok as all other phones with 16 gb give around the same 10 or 11 gb available space.5. The other thing that's great about this phone is that i haven't observed any heating problem even after playing games over wifi. Even my honor 5x heats up a bit after playing continuously for more than an hour. But this phone just warms up and i never felt it unbearable.6. Battery backup is quite good.Charges up quickly7. Cam quality is okFor someone who needs a decent phone under 10k, this is a good choice.

I am giving this review after 2 days of hard usage of Coolpad Mega 2.5D. Firstly,when I have got the delivery,then I checked the in box materials and there were a Handset, Travel Charger, USB Cable, Earphones, Protective Film, Quick Start Guide, Warranty Card and Ejection Pin.Pros- 1. 5.5inch screen which is soo bright and clear that you will fall in love with the display.2. Its 2.5D feature is awesome. Watching HD quality videos on full screen mode is a great experience.3. 3GB RAM is also good while using many apps at the same time.4. 8MP front camera is just "WOW"5. I am now using a 3G sim in this device but the speed is very good. So, I am not feeling bad for not using a 4G.6. Battery backup is also good. Battery lasts for more than 19hours after a random hard use of the device.7. Speaker sound is OK,not so loud but I am satisfied with the speaker at this price range.8. Android Marshmallow is awesome and I love the touch-wood.9. The voice clarity is good while calling.10. It supports OTG and also hands free devices like Bluetooth headphone.11. The features are easy and user friendly and you can easily operate this device.12. Last but not the least, the looks is awesome at this price range. I just love this phone.Cons- 1. This phone has a slight heating issue while charging.2. There is a hybrid sim slot so you can use a nano sim and a micro SD card at the same time or two nano sims at the same time. You cannot use two sims and a micro SD card at the same time. I dont love this feature.3. The virtual keys like back key, menu key etc are on the bottom of the screen and I have faced a serious issue once with this. The key bar was disappeared once and I was not able to back from the gallery. But after some time it appeared again and I was able to work properly. I have faced this issue once but dont know what happened in future.4. I am not satisfied with the rare camera. It is not feeling like you are using a 8MP camera. Pictures are slightly hazy and not clear. While front camera is awesome but rare camera should have to be better.5. It is called 16GB internal memory but you will only get 10GB. There are many pre-installed apps which you cannot uninstalled and it will consume the space.6. The battery is non-removable. I personally dont like this feature although it is not a big issue I think.7. You have to be careful to keep your ejection pin safe. Now it is a big question to me that if I will lost that pin,then shall I be able to open my sim slot or not? I am not sure about this.8. There is a screen guard in the box which is not wholly covered the screen. But I think a this is a 2.5D screen and the edges of the screen are slightly curved, so, the screen guard is good to be used in the phone. You can also use a tampered glass in the device for better protection.Conclusion- I think the features and of-course the looks of this device is awesome at this price range. But you have to remember that this is only a 7k phone and if you will expect a performance like more than 10k phones from this device then I suggest you not to buy this phone. On Design Coolpad Mega 2.5D comes with a metal edges and Plastic Black cover which looks like made up of Metal . On front It has a 5.5-inch HD display with 2.5D curved edged screen Above the screen there is camera module , Notification LED as well as earpiece. below the display we have On Screen buttons and Coolpad Logo . On the top there is 3.5 mm audio jack ,To the right side of the device is the power button and SIM slots which is Hybrid SIM, while the left side feature a volume rocker. on the bottom we have micro USB port and noise cancellation microphone. Coming to back we have a 8MP camera with an f/2.2 lens below we have Coolpad logo & Speaker Grill . The device measure 153×76.8×7.85mm and weights 143g which can be used in Single hand looking at build Quality of device which is improved from Note 3 Lite.Coolpad Mega 2.5D feature a 5.5-inch HD 720P Display with 2.5D curved edged screen which produces good viewing angles in both indoor as well as outdoor in direct sunlight Display on Mega 2.5D is way better than on other smartphones available in market at the price range it is available.Coolpad Mega 2.5D is powered by a Quad-Core 64-bit MediaTek MT6735P processor with Mali-T720 GPU and 3GB of RAM out of which around 2GB is available on first boot . On storage it has a 16GB of internal storage which is expandable up to 32GB with microSD card support. Out of 16GB around 10.46GB is available for users Devices supports Hybrid SIM which means you can use one SIM or MicroSD card or Dual SIM support.On GeekBench 3 phone scores 465 on single core and 1301 on Multi core . On Quadrant standard phone score 10382 points .On AnTuTu Benchmarks Phone scores 26151 points. Coming to performance we were able to play some games with no issue but while playing High end games notice some lag for normal use like internet , Music, Playing normal games there was no issue ti worked fine with while playing high end games or while using multiple app we notice some lag there was no heating issue . At price point it is available Mega 2,5D has direct competition from Redmi 3s which comes with Snapdragon 430 ProcessorOn Camera Coolpad Mega 2.5D has a 8MP rear camera with LED Flash and 8MP front facing camera both camera comes with f/2.2 aperture .The images captured turned out to be quite good in broad daylight in both front as well as rear camera low light camera performance was average Both rear and front camera can record videos up to 720P. camera app comes with some modes such as Face Beauty, HDR, Dim light, Smile shot, panorama, Gesture shot. Pro mode allows to use optional features like white balance, exposure, ISO using an interface , Looking at Price point Mega 2.5D has a decent camera . Check camera samples belowCoolpad Mega 2.5D runs on Android 6.0 (Marshmallow) OS with CoolUI 8.0. User interface has been changed as compared to Coolpad Max we tested few months now now Swiping up from below brings up short cut to WiFi , Mobile data, Bluetooth , Auto brightness There's also screen recording baked into the firmware. there are several prelaoded apps such as Facebook, Amazon, WhatsApp, WeChat, WPS Office, Xploree, Cool Service and Cool Store, Xploree. Cool services apps gives details about the service centers available in India. The phone comes with their own cool store where we can download some apps such as Quickr, turbo cricket,Wikipedia. now talking about notification panel there are some usefull shortcut such as C button which works as shortcut button when you enable it there will small C logo on Display click it to use shortcuts such as screenshot, power button, restart etc .Cool Store app has bee also updated with new design lets you shop for apps, games and presents you deals on random products. The UI works fine with No lag. user interface is very smooth and works fluidly without any lags.On Connectivity Device include 4G VoLTE, WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS. Coolpad Mega 2,5D has a speaker on rear output via Both headphone jack and normal speaker is loud and clear. Sound quality on calls was also good devices comes VoLTE and supports Reliance Jio 4G SIM we have tested Jio SIM both calls and Data works fine . Coolpad Mega 2.5D is Packed by a 2500mAh battery which is able to deliver more 12-14 hours of battery life on Heavy use like Playing games watching videos , listening music , social networks . while on normal use with just Calls using data, playing games sometimes it can last close to One Day . devices support Quick charge which charges devices from 10-100& in 90 minutes.Coolpad Mega 2.5D comes in Champagne Gold and Royal gold colors priced at Rs 6,999 Build and design of smartphone is good at the price it is available. display provide decent viewing angles.Coolpad had not included Fingerprint sensor on Mega 2.5D which was available with Note 3 Lite which made it unique at this price point. VoLTE support decent Camera and battery life . if you are looking for good display,VoLTE support, 3GB RAM and decent performance and Mega 2.5D will be good buy but there are other smartphones like Redmi 3s and Swipe Elite Plus available in market at similar price.
